Conduit 2 review: More like Con-don't-do-it 2
May 3rd 2011 10:03PM (Joystiq)If you're giving 1 star to Conduit 2, then what's left for Ninjabread Man or Balls of Fury or Too Human?
Boom! Original John Madden Football designer files lawsuit against EA
Apr 1st 2011 11:21PM (Joystiq)Do folks not read?
"Only recently, as a result of publicity surrounding the 20th Anniversary of the 'Madden' videogame did Antonick become aware that Electronic Arts did not independently develop subsequent versions of its Madden NFL software."
See Courtney's post above: Both sides thought the work was no longer derivative, but Robin recently saw evidence that it was still derivative.

Mar 31st 2011 11:55PM (Joystiq)You're right: a data analysis company probably has no data when it says it has a report that backs up its numbers.
And how much did the RROD set back Microsoft? Oh yeah, $1 billion.

3DS Power Pak + review: a battery of tests
Mar 31st 2011 10:59PM (Joystiq)Oh. You were serious with that comment.
Think for a second. They've put in a very large lithium battery while offering a more powerful handheld with a larger, higher resolution screen that effectively creates two images for 3D.
They've also made the battery so that a user can replace it (which the manual even explains how to do). If anything, they're likely to make a more powerful battery available.

Duke Nukem Forever's 'Capture the Babe' mode is a slap in the face
Mar 21st 2011 4:31PM (Joystiq)And you're making assumptions about what I said. You were trying to pass a false equivalency that's not supported by the facts but that justifies your accepting sexism. I highlighted why sexism against women is a larger problem because, in trying to compare women's sexist views of men with sexism against women, you just don't have the same results. I don't spend my time watching Lifetime, so I can't argue your claim. But I know in randomly watching tv, you'll hardly find men portrayed like women are. Maybe a 1:20 or 1:10 ratio at best.
It's not about arguing from the premise that women are weaker: it's about portraying as weaker, as objects that you can slap on the butt or wherever because she's a woman.
It's a problem throughout most games. Focusing on this one game is pointless, I'll agree. But don't bring in some lame crap about it's just as bad for men as women.

Mar 21st 2011 2:26PM (Joystiq)Yes, the problem is that men are the majority of rape victims and have to be careful because who knows when 11 women might gang rape a man. Husbands are so physically abused by their wives that we have shelters across the country for them. And 70% of all serial murders are men.
Wow, you're right. It is a two-way street.
Microsoft shows off prototype avatar that will haunt your dreams
Feb 25th 2011 9:05AM (Joystiq)Maybe folks here have unrealistic friends or haven't talked to a real person in a while. There was no real facial animation--no changes in the eye, eye brows, or lips.
@Gimbal: I agree. Think of procedural dialog, allow more dynamic and creative responses to what the player says and does.
PSN Tuesday: Dead Space Extraction, Bulletstorm demo
Jan 25th 2011 6:09PM (Joystiq)You're going to fixed a mixed reaction. Some said it was short but had very good graphics, was a good rails shooter, and had a good story. Others thought it was just bad. Still, I think others resent that they gave the Wii owners a rails shooter instead of a legit free roaming game.
I think it depends if you like rail shooters. If you do, then you'll probably like Extraction.
The Last Story's insane 'chat' system revealed
Dec 17th 2010 12:22PM (Joystiq)I know what you said, but it doesn't make sense. It's clearly a platform aimed at couch multiplayer.
Even so, I've not found online Wii games lonely. Voice chat is nice, but it's also extremely distracting. I played a lot of multiplayer where there was no voice chat and very little text chat, particularly with Quake. But it was clear that I was playing with real people. Recently, when I've played GoldenEye online, I've never felt like I was playing by myself not only because of how people played differently but because of the obvious duals. Personality still comes through even without the voice.
