A very merry Virtual Console Christmas [update 2]

Dec 22nd 2006 12:42AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
How the hell could you never have had played R-Type? If that's true this entire blog should be burnt to the ground. You should be ashamed of yourself...

...but, hey, it's nothing 800 Wii Points can't fix come Monday.

Super Star Soldier now available on Virtual Console

Nov 28th 2006 9:31AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Super Star Soldier was one of my favorite TG16 games from way back in the day, so I'm excited to see it on VC. As for Nintendo breaking their 10 game a month promise, I'm not too upset about that. The Wii is a new platform and it's going to have some faults in the beginning while the big N iron out all the quirks. I mean, come on, the forecast, news and internet channels don't even work yet! So, I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt as far as VC is concerned. If they support it, even with only one new title a week, it'll still be better than XBLM which sometimes substitutes a game release with a card pack for UNO or just nothing at all. Besides I'm too busy playing Zelda, Rayman and Wii Sports to worry about when they're going to toss Dungeon Explorer and Gunstar Heroes our way. :)

Error: Do not pass GO, do not collect GOW

Nov 8th 2006 4:42PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I live on the East Coast and I can't find GOW anywhere. EB, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys R Us, FYE, Gamestop and Game Crazy all have their shipments delayed a day or two (or maybe 3). It kinda sucks, because I'm eager to experience what many are saying is the best game on the 360, and a game of the year candidate for sure. Don't get me wrong, I'll live. I've got FEAR and Tony Hawk Project 8 and COD3 to keep me plenty busy until the stores get their shipments of GOW in, but it's still kind of lame to be shutout when my buddies on XBL are having a locust killing good time. Oh well. Que sera sera.

Top 10 awful achievements

Sep 13th 2006 10:39AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Obviously, they've never played Bejeweled 2 Deluxe, which features a measly 20 point achievement for playing through level 280 in Endless Mode. Such a feat would take nearly a month of playtime, maybe more. And all you get is a crappy 20 points. It's complete garbage. Worst. Achievement. Ever.

Hudson defends crappy Bomberman

Check this out: The second letter of the English alphabet is "B". Think about it.

Sony steals motion idea, but not from Nintendo

May 9th 2006 2:49PM (Joystiq Xbox)
They also stole the "Playstation 3" font from the Spiderman movies. Sony Pictures should realize it looks dumb as hell on a game system. Maybe they're implying the PS3 fights crime. I dunno.

Mystery 360 RPG = Naruto?

The first GameCube Naruto fighting game was just released in the US last week. Check your facts.

I was a HUGE fan of Crimson Skies on Xbox 1 and this looks like it has the potential to be better than that in every possible way. Let's hope it plays as good as it looks... or at least well enough to fill the void until Crimson Skies 2.
