Rumorang: MGS4 'exclusive' to PS3, 'no plans' for Xbox version, Konami declares
Jan 3rd 2008 3:13PM (Joystiq)The game's unofficial release date is June 17th on the PS3 (which I own, by the way), but I'll wait for the 360 version due to better online, achievements, etc. All the usual reasons to buy a multiplatform game for the 360. And for the record the six axis is too small, feels cheap, and is horrible for shooters.
Brief tangent: Uncharted, while quality through and through, lacked any kind of visceral impact. The primary mechanic (cover/shooting) was much better and more intense in Gears of War. I've never seen a game so well done that left no impression on me.

Jan 2nd 2008 6:41PM (Joystiq)Putting on the 360 makes it available to more than twice the amount of consumers. The Uncharted/Ratched argument is uniformed also since they are in fact published by Sony. Making it a timed exclusive is a nice pat on the head to Sony - but there is no doubt in my mind that it will hit the 360. It will sell more copies, they will make more money, it is that simple.
I own a ps3, by the way.
November NPD: Everyone's a winner
Dec 13th 2007 8:38PM (Joystiq)PS3 version of Orange Box might be 'downright unplayable'
Nov 27th 2007 6:50AM (Joystiq)And some developers are fine, Infinity Ward did an admirable job on COD4 for the ps3, and Sony's first party stuff is generally good (*cough*, factor five *cough*) with the beautiful Uncharted and Heavenly Sword. If Sony is so good at sharing their tech (which they're not) you wouldn't see so much crappy 3rd party stuff. And anyone who thinks the 360 has been tapped to its' max simply doesn't understand the life cycle of a console.
This holiday is looking decent but flat for the ps3 judging by Black Friday so that's a second season it stays behind the 360. They overengineered the thing without being consumer and developer friendly and I don't see them catching up, much less overtaking, the 360 in the States at least.
For the record, I do have a ps3.
80 GB PS3 price drop active now
Oct 19th 2007 5:24PM (Joystiq)I have the 360 - spending $400 on a redundant console doesn't make sense to me - could get at least 5 new 360 games for that money
I have no interest in investing in blu-ray or hd-dvd until the format war had a clear winner. By then digital distribution will be starting to take hold and be the next, and final, hd format. Spending money on another physical format for movies at this point when they're clearly going the route of the CD is silly.
I will never use the PSN over XB Live for multiplayer gaming, anyone who knows the differences between the two infastructures can see that the PSN will never have the ease of use and unified system that Live has.
Not enough great exclusives to warrant buying the system.
I have a good career and make good money, but that doesn't mean I just throw $400 out there. That's a car payment, or about half of my auto insurance or half of my motorcycle insurance.

Oct 10th 2007 3:39PM (Joystiq)Hate to break the news to you but 2008 is too late. No one knows what the hell Afrika is (even Sony), MGS is going multiplatform, Killzone goes up against Gears 2, and in the meantime the combination of Halo 3 and the 360 is eating Sony's lunch this Holiday.
Sony has dug themselves a 3rd place hole that no console maker has ever dug itselves out of in the same generation.
