Engadget's recession antidote: win a 16GB iPhone 3G from Rapid Repair!

Aug 1st 2009 5:11PM (Engadget)
I'd definitely like to play around with an iPhone. Hope I can get it working on my t-mobile account.

DS Daily: Recommend some homebrew apps

Jan 19th 2009 10:12AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
The absolute BEST and most professional looking homebrew I've ever seen on the DS are the ports of the LONEWOLF choose-your-own-adventure books.

As for the anti-piracy morons, you can thank good old Andrew Yoon over at PSPfanboy for spreading that unprovable nonsense about how piracy is solely responsible for the downfall of the PSP.

John Koller: Piracy is 'trending down right now'

Nov 29th 2008 5:44PM (Joystiq Playstation)
No one is arguing that piracy isn't "wrong."

But why on earth do people believe the crap that Sony is shoveling here?

Piracy is "teh doom" of the PSP, huh? Yet it continues to sell and sometimes dominate in Japan, continues to have many more games released in other territories, etc. To even pirate a game on the PSP, one has to get a tool battery and go through a rather complicated procedure to install CFW (and if you read the stats from the actual CFW creator, you know that less than 10% of the install base has actually downloaded it).
Then, you've got a 1-2GB file to download.

Let's compare that to pirating games on the DS, where you can buy a $12 flashcart + memcard and download any game you could ever want with a simple google search.

Yet somehow Nintendo never seems to be moaning and crying about how piracy is causing their doom.

Sony is obviously doing something wrong with marketing the PSP in the US. They need to stop putting all the blame on this boogieman known as "piracy.

PSP Fanboy review: Yggdra Union

Sep 22nd 2008 5:08PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I guess I'm too used to playing tactical games like Jeanne d'Arc and Fire Emblem... I can't stand having to fight the same enemy up to three times before killing them.

So far, I'm not getting into it.

Live from Apple's 'Let's Rock' event in San Francisco

Sheesh... it's like the Grinch who stole Cupertino in here.

I, for one, have been waiting on the Touch fence since last year, and the new pricing and features on the 32GB Touch has definitely got me motivated to buy. Do I wish they had a 64GB option? Sure, but seriously, what's not to like about the new upgrade?

UMD-nied: Echochrome PSP goes download-only in NA

Apr 3rd 2008 7:01PM (Joystiq)
You haven't needed a PS3 to download games to the PSP for months now.

Besides, the PSP version is designed for tiny screens. The PS3 version is designed for HD screens, and allows much larger gameplay levels.

PSP Game of the Year, as chosen by other media outlets

Jan 1st 2008 7:57PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Sheesh... FFT is the most overhyped game of 2007. A barely improved PS1 game port is the best the system had to offer? If true, that's pretty sad. Good thing I know the truth... JDA is leagues better than FFT.

Spelling out multiple offenses with Ubisoft's Scrabble

Oct 6th 2007 12:49AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Shouldn't the REAL question here be why is this guy's daughter trying to use the word LESBO in the first place? Does he stop and wonder why, where she got it from, have a discussion with the kid about the possible problems with the word? No, instead he rails against a frigging game of Scrabble. Where is the parental responsibility?

The Simpsons: The Mook, the Chef, the Wife and Her Homer (season premiere)

Sep 10th 2006 10:07PM (AOL TV)
Yeah, Harry Shearer really seemed OFF on his Otto this episode... same guy, but he was just doing it... ODDLY.

I know it's become cliche to rag on the Simpsons and say things used to be "better," but MAN. Didn't even smile, much less laugh, at this very weak Godfather parody. How could Homer as a mob boss NOT be funny?? Man, so many lost opportunities.

Joystiq quick visit: Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops

Aug 23rd 2006 7:39PM (Joystiq)
Funny how back when GOLDENEYE hit the N64 and everyone proclaimed it the second coming of Jesus, no one said "yeah, it sure sucks without a second analog stick."

The PSP has one analog stick. Deal with it.
