Steve Moffat's "Jekyll" = one of the besst series of the year!!
Seriously, it's REALLY, REALLY good TV. As a fan of shows like THe Wire, Sopranos and Deadwood I like my TV smart and compelling - this series is both those things.
"For all the nay sayers, if you don't like the show, why waste your time posting about it?"
Agreed. Seriously, what's wrong with you people? What happened in your life that you need to tear hope out of people's hearts? If it's a waste of time well it's OUR time to waste. Anyway speaking of wasting time - why are you posting telling people to 'give up hope'?
As for this, "all the bit-hing on message boards, the negative comments on episodes (or those not like last season) can hurt." Well not if it's constructive criticism. Besides with Heroes and Lost are totally different stories as they had a much larger audience (therefore it consisted of many people who don't comment on the web). With Veronica, you could have a point, but I would hope that all the negativity made them realize their dumb Executive-lead decisions to make it more 'marketable' removed what made the show so great in the first place.
The FBI idea sounds good and with Kristen Bell set to star in a big film about fanboys and geeks - her star is about to go up a few pegs and the CW would be foolish to get rid of her tv show from its network.
"Sure, if you can prove that it is, in fact, illogical."
I just did - DUH!
There were plenty of people intolerant of segregationists but would you actually equate thei intolerance of intolerance with intolerance of racism? You would. If you were a complete idiot.
"That's pretty freakin' intolerant, if you ask me."
Can we finally put an end to the "intolerance of intolerance is intolerance" argument that forever keeps rearing it's illogical head?
Washington may or may not be a homophobe - who cares - but he created a hostile work environment and he was turfed. That's the RIGHT of the PRIVATE company called ABC. Now, Washington has the RIGHT to say what he wants just as everyone else HAS THE RIGHT TO CALL HIM AN ASSHOLE FOR IT (or boycott sponsors, etc). Now, speaking of rights, TR Knight DOES NOT have the right to marry, keep his job if his employer has a problem with his sexuality, keep his home if his landlord has a problem with him being gay, visit his dying lover if the family forbids it.
Chuck, people have the RIGHT to get upset at what people say. Sorry but that ALSO involves the freedom of speech that you keep harping on about. But there is an inequality, there is a lack of rights, at it's not Washington that's its victim.
"Except in this case it was only a faggot so hell, that's no big deal, we will wait months to fire the guy."
Thanks David for pointing out the largest logically hole in chuck's 'argument' but really it's not what came out of his mouth that was the problem anyway. The problem was Washington's UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR. He grabbed Dempsey physically when the altercation occurred - would you feel better about all this Chuck if Dempsey had filed physical assault charges against Washington? Would that make it clear for you? Less paranoid about the 'persecution' of people who want the freedom to be intolerant ***holes?
I'd like to second all the votes for any detective from Homicide or The Wire. Those shows used the genre to make larger points whereas the ones chosen in the post exist only as genre tools.
Considering that the use of slaves in America is still fairly recent history, even if it is an unreasonable request to remove the confederate flag, it should be done.
Again, we're not talking thousands of years ago but only a couple generations. Not to mention that black americans didn't even have the vote only a few decades ago.
It's easy for 'southern gal' to shrug it off. Of course it is. She wasn't negatively affected by it so it's as easy for her to shrug it off just as it's probably as easy for her to shrug off the murder of thousands of Iraqis by her country.
