Ubuntu 9.10 'Karmic Koala' released, could decide your OS fate

Oct 29th 2009 5:04PM (Engadget)
Installing a fresh copy of Kubuntu 9.10 when I get off work.

Honestly, I don't care if Linux has a 1% share of the market. I've enjoyed Linux since the first Slackware launch, and Ubuntu/Kubuntu's been the best desktop distro I've seen yet. I have preferred Linux to Windows for a very long time, and honestly... Macs, while impressive in their own right, are prohibitively expensive for me. I'll stick with an OS I'm familiar with, enjoy, and suits my purposes completely, thank-you very much.

Once upon a time, Linux was strictly an OS for someone who enjoyed tweaking and manipulating the OS at a very low-level. Fortunately, many distros now cater more to the people who either don't know how to, or (like myself) don't have the time to.

Sony's Kaz Hirai delusional, sees Sony as industry leader, Nintendo no competition

So, basically, Sony is leading the industry for companies named Sony.

Sony's Kaz Hirai delusional, sees Sony as industry leader, Nintendo no competition

Sony is #1 in console manufacturers named Sony.

In basically every other comparison of console manufacturers, they are #3, out of 3.

Well, unless Kaz is claiming they are #1 in the world for making the least selling console of the big 3.

ESA calls out GamePolitics for unfair coverage [update]

Why does the fact that GP is funded/backed by a non-profit organization that tries to speak for gamers somehow make it less decent?

Seriously, everyone needs funding eventually, especially a site as heavily trafficked as GP has been. If the ECA wants to back them, *and* the ECA is focused on speaking out for gamers in general, to me this makes sense.

Mind you, I'm not part of the ECA, I'm just saying it makes sense for the two to work together, since GP has tended to bring news relevant to gamers, from within the political arena, and provide it in a way that works rather well. I've been a reader/commenter on GP since the LiveJournal days, and I've never seen GP be anything but up front about things reported there.

Does our comment system work for you?

Not especially all that often, it doesn't. My experience with the comment system on this site is hit or miss. Maybe 50% of my posts seem to go through, and I have yet to figure out why...

The Political Game: Pax Jack? Don't count on it

Jan 15th 2007 5:48PM (Joystiq)
This is just another example of Jack being Jack, knowing JACK, and talking out of his [Jack]a**. The real sad thing is how the media jumped on it and referred to it as an Olive Branch. I'd expect nothing more from Jackie-boy, but I really wish the media would actually, I dunno, research their stories a bit more. Oh well.
