Microsoft: 'We have no plans for Blu-ray on Xbox 360'

Oct 25th 2009 1:30PM (Engadget HD)
I use netflix on my 360 and I have a 15mb connection and my moves don't look so good. I find the best way to watch movies is on the PS3. You can't stream high quality 1080P and high quality audio at the same time. Think of DTS Master Audio or Dolby True HD, it's just not possible to get that kind of audio from streams. Even if you get the audio in raw form and let the player or receiver do the decoding, it still requires really big files. So, the best way to go is using Blue Ray disks.

Samsung's BD-P1400 Blu-ray player sinks below $300

HD-DVD doesn't have an advantage anymore? Are you kidding? Hello pip, in movie internet downloads for updates and changes to movies. These features will take a while longer for blue to get. which means that if you buy a stand alone blue player now, you get screwed later. Can someone explain the real reason why HD-DVD's cost more then Blue Ray movies? This still doesn't make sense. Even the ones that don't have a regular dvd version still cost more then blue ray movies. I used to buy more HD-DVDs but now I buy more Blue Ray movies because of this price difference.

why does this article sound more like an ad from the Blue side? I will tell you that I support both formats. But this was way to easy to point out.

European Blu-ray Chairman calls HD DVD Group's actions "unbelievable"

If HD-DVD is suppose to be more consumer friendly and cheaper to make, then why in the heck do HD-DVD movies cost more? I buy both formats, I would prefer for HD-DVD to win because I don't like Sony. But I do hate paying more for HD-DVD movies.

Nielsen VideoScan High-Def market share for week ending October 21st, 2007

I have both blue ray player and Hd-dvd player and the Hd-dvd movies in most cases look better. I don't care about the tech used, I just care about the end result and in the end I buy more Hd-dvd because of the better picture quality. Go ahead and take the same movie on both formats and play them side by side using the same tv and see for yourself. Best proof is seeing for yourself, don't just take other peoples word for it.

DVR Xbox 360 possible, IPTV the catalyst

so I saw the pics of the HDMI version of the 360. Sold my 360 on ebay, hoping to buy the HDMI version, only to find out it wasn't real! Nothing makes me more mad. Now my HD DVD player, and all my games are just sitting there!
