Dec 22nd 2010 5:26AM (Joystiq)China: Video games cause teen pregnancy, murder
Dec 31st 2009 11:05PM (Joystiq)That's right. According to China, if you've ever accidentally bumped a butt while you're doing your thing, you have caused AIDS. Just saying, their credibility is not exactly awesome.

Jul 9th 2009 4:07AM (Joystiq)LucasArts, BioWare unveiling new game Oct. 21
Oct 7th 2008 11:46PM (Joystiq)It's been talked about for years, and BioWare itself has let a few things slip about it, too. Apparently, LucasArts didn't let SOE renew their licensing of the Star Wars universe (meaning that, finally, SWG will die the death it deserves) and pretty much seconds after that announced that it was teamed up with an Austin MMO publisher.
BioWare, not weeks before, just announced that they had set up a new MMO office in Austin.
Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour share 16 songs
Sep 14th 2008 5:33PM (Joystiq)Rock Band made a customer of me immediately because it felt so much like the first and second Guitar Heroes - Silly, irreverent, and only as serious as you want it. GH3 on the other hand seemed to take itself very, very seriously and also had maybe three songs I liked.
Rock Band forever!

Report: Infinity Ward 'definitely' working on sci-fi shooter
Aug 4th 2008 1:10AM (Joystiq)Honestly, Halo was the most overrated piece of garbage series I think I've ever played.
Before the flames come out, think: Halo brought the frat-boy douchebags into our little gaming world. Halo brought us Halo 2, also known as Halo: No Ending. And Halo 3 barraged us with Game Fuel.
Joystiq impressions -- Call of Duty: World at War
Aug 4th 2008 1:06AM (Joystiq)On the other hand, I myself am a self-professed WWII nerd, complete with libraries of books on the Luftwaffe and Market Garden and such, and even I'M tired of this shit.
Honestly, when I saw the brief rumor-mongering going around that COD5 might be a futuristic sci-fi game, I got a little excited. At least there you can blaze a new trail, you know? Maybe take the BF2142 path and describe and set forth a story about a bigass war on Earth, or wars over Mars colonies or something. The potential is mind-blowing.
Source: 'Avatars' to be Microsoft's answer to Miis and Home
Jul 21st 2008 6:54AM (Joystiq)1 - Bringing out the ol' "OMFG MY SONY PS3 IZ WAY BETTAR THEN UR XBOX HUEG 360" is just sad.
2 - It's not like Microsoft is going to charge extra to let us use Avatars, although I do imagine there will be costumes and accessories you need to buy. Such is the digital distribution age however.
3 - Fifty bucks a year really isn't a big deal for us adults. For the young bucks it is. This is genius because not only do we Gold users get loads of free content, demos before Silver users, etc., but that 50 dollar gap is damn near impossible to bridge for the twelve-year-olds I always hear on COD4 for PS3 or any game ever on the PC. Also, that fifty dollars encourages those twelve-year-olds to behave, because not only is their gamertag on the line for their behaviour but so is their fitty bones.
I for one do not regret or resent for a second paying fifty dollars a year for douchebag insurance on Live, and I am happy that Microsoft is trying something new with the Dashboard. It's been getting old.
