I gotta saw that was beautiful!

Former Super Mario Bros. Super Show star 'Captain' Lou Albano dies

Oct 19th 2009 4:24PM (Joystiq)
I wish I had seen this sooner. I remember seeing him at Youmacon in 2006. It almost feels like yesterday. He didn't look all too good then, so I'm not that surprised. Although I am saddened even more having actually seen the man in real life. It feels more personal, you know? R.I.P. Captain Lou. *salute*

Pocket Gamer: Nintendo looking to revamp DSiWare, compete against PSP Minis

Aug 24th 2009 7:30PM (Joystiq)
I think the thing to take away from this is that Nintendo is looking to open up to more developers, particularly indie developers. This may be the first steps to allowing a legitimate way for homebrew developers to create and publish apps for the DSi. There's most likely still a bit of work that must be done, but I really hope this is where this leads to.

DSi Facebook update available in Europe, also blocks homebrew

Honestly, I think Nintendo and Sony need to look at what Microsoft has done with XNA to let gamers tinker with making their own games and submitting them to the digital download stores for approval and eventually purchase. This would require loosening the restrictions on licensing for digital downloads, but it would go a long way. Full licensing could still be in place for full commercial games, but this would open up the downloadable content to more parties. Sony is already starting to move that way what with cutting development costs for the PSP and such. Hopefully Nintendo will too.

Joyswag: Wii Sports Resort + 2 MotionPlus adapters [update]

Jul 29th 2009 2:29PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
My favorite was an Alaskan cruise with several members of my family. We took over the boat for the most part. The scenery was spectacular, the food was excellent, and the excursions in port were awesome! I got to zip-line through the canopy of the Alaskan rain forest and mountain bike along a mountain highway. Plus, there's just something awesome about chilling in a hot tub off the back of a cruise ship while it's freezing raining.

Band Hero trailer released, unsexy people not allowed to play

Jul 22nd 2009 10:52AM (Joystiq)
Meh. I'm waiting for Jukebox Hero. It consists of inserting quarters and tapping buttons to flip album covers and select tracks. It's got an easy learning curve and is pretty popular in arcades and bars.

Nomura: The Kingdom Hearts Keyblade was originally a chainsaw

Perhaps the chainsaw will come back for Final Fantasy Versus XIII? That I'd like to see.

Big Blue Bubble developing Warlock of Firetop Mountain for DS

Jul 9th 2009 4:24PM (Joystiq)
Agreed. Having never read/played the original books, I actually prefer being introduced to them by way of DS homebrew. The fact that you don't need to carry around paper, pencil, or dice in addition to the book make it much easier to take with you. Plus, the music gives it a much better ambiance and sets the mood. These could work really well for value or DSi download titles.

Rocker! No, wait. Maybe roller. I am pretty round.

Joyswag: Pikmin (New Play Control Edition) [update]

Damn. You beat me to it. Well I'll say at least 100.
