GameJew stalks Miyamoto, sings him a song

Between this and all the other crap going on at GDC, I ended up making this web comic....

Sorry, the Wii isn't crap

Mar 9th 2007 12:01PM (Joystiq)
While I disagree with what he said, the reason he apparently got into trouble for it is the way he went about it. It's one thing for a dev to go up on stage and say he doesn't agree with the Wii and it's vision... it's another thing to make an ass out of yourself and the company you work for when you do it. And you know what? What does it matter to him what Wii is doing. He's making a PC game right now, and he has a choice to work on it or not.

PS3 'PlayStation Home' launches fall '07, confirms NY Times

At why not the LS2/LS7?:

Of everything on that list, I would say only two of them MAYBE helped move gaming forward, but barely; the Yaroze and the EyeToy.

I would say the EyeToy is their greatest contribution, and to be honest, they don't even know what they're doing with the thing. It has lots of potential, but it's never been realized to the point where people feel like they need it.

How could you bring up a fact like how the old Apple 2 used an analog stick and then credit Sony for sticking a USB port in the PS2? That doesn't even count. Other items on your list, such as music play back and video play back have NOT furthered gaming. Were they cool extras on the machine? Yes, but they don't do anything for the game world.

PS3 'PlayStation Home' launches fall '07, confirms NY Times

You want to know my issue with Sony "stealing" more ideas from the others? Because over the last 3 console generations they have contributed NOTHING to the movement forward in gaming.

Take a look at what Nintendo did in their first three console generations, the innovations are to numerous to count. Look what Microsoft brought to the table, with Live and Achievements. They even took time to improve their controller drastically with the 360 making it the most comfortable traditional game pad on the market. What has Sony done? The only thing I can think of is that they came up with the idea to have two analog sticks on their controller, and what's funny about that is they made the original dual shock after ripping the analog stick and rumble feature from the N64.

So that's why I don't have any respect for Sony's Playstation division.

Home sounds like it could be a cool addition to the PS3, but once again Sony is snatching ideas from everyone else.

Conan impressions from THQ Gamers' Day

Wow, are these guys serious? If that isn't a complete bite off the opening to God of War I don't know what is.

And you know, fancy texturing and high poly models aside, God of War actually LOOKS better. People forget that solid design and great animation can go a long way.

Zero interest in this title from this point forward.

Behold: concept art for the Prince of Persia movie

To be honest, PoP is in way better hands than any other video game to movie adaptation ever. I wouldn't expect it to be mind blowing, but it could be a good popcorn flick.

The Political Game: Doug Lowenstein shoots the messenger

Feb 12th 2007 12:26PM (Joystiq)
I think Doug makes plenty of really good points, especially the shots at game journalists and developers needing to act a little more like professionals.

I was listening to 1up Yours this morning and they all seemed to get upset with his jab at them, made fun of it, and continued to act how they normally do. I'm not saying it's wrong of them or others to act the way they do, but there is a reason people aren't taking the video game industry as serious as the music and movie industries.

I think it's usually entertaining when someone like David Jaffe goes on a tangent, but at the same time, he isn't painting a pretty picture of developers. Cliffy B seems like he's a genuine gamer, but the way he talks doesn't seem to be the way you think a "leader" should talk. The truth is, these are our poster boys for the industry, and it probably wouldn't hurt to have them act as such.

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup: Bleach edition

"through clever panning -- make it a compelling anime. It's either a testament to clever camera work or a sad note on cartoons."

To consider that clip an "animated" work is an insult to anyone who really knows how to animate.

Dev tells all: Street Fighter The Movie (The Game)

As awful as this game is, at least you get to play as hot ass Kyle Minogue.
