I'm not against hiring foreigners. I'm against the H1B worker program, which places artificial constraints on their labor. Hey, want to work for another company? Better not let your current company know-- they'll fire you, you'll lose your job, and you're kicked out of the country.
I have a couple friends from India, Russia, etc. who have hit this problem: you're stuck in your current conditions and salary for years, because if you speak up, you can get fired and shipped out of the country. This of course worsens conditions and lowers salaries for everyone.
If Congress had really wanted to help out with a perceived tech worker shortage, they'd make these people citizens or permanent residents. What they really wanted was indentured servants.
