Sony remains tight-lipped about PS3 European launch, firmware updates
Dec 19th 2006 10:00PM (Joystiq)I don't think there is a more hated company than MS. I doubt the average consumer cares what the general public thinks about their console choice (of a whopping 3!). They care what their friend down the street has or their buddies from work.
Sony remains tight-lipped about PS3 European launch, firmware updates
Dec 19th 2006 6:52PM (Joystiq)"Whether or not you agree with their choice for Person of the Year is irrelevant. Time Magazine is a very widely read and well respected publication, and thus has a large influence on public opinion."
Still doesn't mean they know anything about gaming. The teeny review blurbs in Maxim magazine are more informative than all of the "mainstream media" console reviews combined.
That said, this site is becoming a sack of shit much quicker than I thought possible. It's utterly pathetic that 2 dedicated websites (360fanboy and teamxbox.com) can be more objective than the writers here. For fuck's sake, give it a rest. Ok, you don't want a PS3. Move on. It boggles my mind that people get paid for this piss poor, one sided "analysis" of the industry.
If I wasn't so involved with the industry, I'd just as soon bow out and let you system loyalist retards have it. I sure hope you all end up happy with MS leading the industry. Because they've been so good with all of the other industries they control...AMIRITE? They've already messed up one generation of gaming by fucking over Xbox owners with a way too early 360. Sony & Nintendo couldn't just stick to 2007 for their new consoles because of it, and now idiots like Joystiq writers call foul on anything Sony does. Classy.
Reason there is no Joystiq podcast: Hard to talk while performing fellatio on Peter Moore. True story.
Heightened Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 4 not a PS3 exclusive
Dec 18th 2006 7:12PM (Joystiq)Sony sucks atm but they can make up for it. I dont want either to fail because competition is GREAT but I will support the one that has always treated me well, Sony."
ImSad, this is what I think all the time. I bought a 360 to stay with my gaming buddies, but all but 2 of them were just waiting out the PS3 launch with it. I buy used 360 games so they don't see profit from me for the most part. I enjoy the thing, but I really don't want MS to lead the console business because of what they've done in other areas. I enjoy them being present enough to force some competition, but I think they'd be like EA if they were at the top. I think Sony shit themselves when MS got in the console market because of how they've squashed many other companies, and I'd bet the entire last year of PS3 blunders has been a result of that pressure.
I hope this, and many other titles remain PS3 exclusive. I know for a fact that we'll see some incredible stuff in the next couple years on PS3 that won't technically be possible on 360, some of which I think make the higher price tag a little more justifiable. Not everyone subscribes to a "lowest common denominator" theory. If they did, we'd all buy our clothes at Wal-Mart and drive Kias.
Study: PlayStation owners show greatest brand loyalty
Nov 17th 2006 7:15PM (Joystiq)This couldn't possibly be because out of all 3 systems, PS2 is the only one that will actually have any decent games coming in the next year, could it? In Sony's case, it actually helps them, as they'll make far more money from the PS2 than they will from PS3 for the next few years.
Nintendo is at least throwing GC owners a bone with Zelda. MS acts like Xbox is their gay son & doesn't want anything to do with it.

Genji has "tired gameplay" says first IGN PS3 review
Nov 8th 2006 10:29PM (Joystiq)Mark my words, if that score had been an 8 or higher, Mr. Snow would have passed on this story and went back to finding ways to spin MS' "buy another HDD and a memory card for more storage space, bitches" story into something equating them to maverick geniuses who will revolutionize gaming yet again.
Chris, please don't try to justify Blake's bullshit. I think that your record is respectable, posting good & bad for every system. Genji was not highly anticipated, nor is a stand out title in PS3's launch. You know, just as well as anyone here with sense knows, Blake posted this because it's bad Sony news. When the sensible people start making excuses for the actions of rampant idiots, you end up with Enron. I can't get any other gaming news sites at work, so please don't let Joystiq go in the crapper like Snow's credibility.
Microsoft's Xbox 360 HDD workaround: buy another
Nov 8th 2006 8:36PM (Joystiq)Oh yeah, because he's a tool. Just thought he'd have caught this one first, what with his dominating the post count with negative Sony shit lately. My bad.
NBA 07 load times take FOREVER on the PS3
Nov 7th 2006 6:09PM (Joystiq)I may be crazy, but isn't the guy in the video say that he's making it to show "how quickly the PS3 loads", and he clearly explains the initial install (which takes about as much time as the FIRST load for Double Agent on 360) and then the game is loaded.
Snow, you are an idiot. Your hatred to all things Sony make you completely incompetent as a writer for anything other than an Xbox website, as you clearly pledge felty to MS. That said, it is ridiculous beyond beleif that you think that the initial load time here is any worse than most 360 games. Played Oblivion, Far Cry, Double Agent or GRAW?
You're an incredible jackass. Why Joystiq or Weblogs lets you write anything concerning PS3 is completely beyond me, as you're incapable of doing anything objective. You're worse than the worst fanboys who post here.
I don't know if you know this, but there are a few industry folks that come here. And we think you're the epitome of what's wrong with gaming journalism, if this can even be called that. Get off your high horse and stop trying to tilt everything to make people agree with your fucked up "Xbox is the end all, be all" perspective. There are 3 consoles in this gen, and all 3 are viable. Just because you have a hard on for one of them doesn't mean most people agree with you.
You're fucking with my livelyhood and putting false, negative bullshit in people's heads. Most of us don't appreciate potentially losing sales because uninformed consumers read your fictitious bile disguised as "news." You're not a journalist, you're a douchebag that gets to bash the system he doesn't own on a website. I look forward to your (hopefully very public) firing.
MS laments Lumines confusion; new packs in 2007
Oct 20th 2006 10:41PM (Joystiq)"Oops, sorry you're pissed. kthxbai" is listening to the community? Kudos to them if they do something about it, but for now, they're putting on a consoling face while giving it to us raw (no vaseline!). I have 17 XBLA games, but unless this gets fixed, sadly, Lumines won't be one of them.
PS- Couldn't do it without positive MS spin, could ya? I remember JS bitching from May til September about no HDMI on the core PS3, then instead of eating crow when Sony "listed to the community", or at least giving them props for doing so....nothing. I wish I knew howta quit yew, Joystiq.
And where's my props for the scoop?
PS3 to download album art when ripping CDs
Oct 20th 2006 9:10PM (Joystiq)I noticed in your coverage you didn't have anything about this, so I thought I'd point it out to you and give you a chance to disprove all of the MS bias talk about this site. I'm sure you just overlooked it, and you're not just refraining from any negative Xbox coverage. I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy, just want to make sure you give equal time to your negative remarks. Cheers!

Microsoft Runs Damage Control on Lumines
Lumines Live has turned into a marketing disaster for Microsoft. We knew the game was a testing ground for the microtransactions movement, but when the company's own employees are admitting they weren't clear about what "full version" meant when purchasing Lumines Live, the response should be: !
Has Microsoft essentially admitted to pulling the wool over gamers' eyes?
"There will be future content you can choose to buy. Just like other games with downloadable content, you can choose what you might enjoy the most, or stick with the base game." While technically true, no Xbox Live Arcade game has taken this approach, and distributing a press release to media outlets and tossing a description on Xbox.com does not make this message clear. Nowhere on XBL itself can gamers read a description of what Lumines Live's "Base Pack" does not include.
And it makes sense that Lumines Live would have expansion content, the game's designed for it, but Microsoft has rightfully come under fire for the VS CPU mode, where, despite contributing $14.99 to Microsoft's bank account, you're only allowed access to one stage. Microsoft has two recommendations for those upset: simply don't buy it or play online versus because "the rules are the same." How does this explain paying to experience content that isn't there?
