They're back: Capcom announces Dead Rising 2 for PC, 360 and PS3

Co-op would be nice too.

More Wii games from EA thanks to low development costs

Please don’t tell me it’s cheaper because developers don’t care to push the system in the same way they might push the PS2 or Xbox. I mean I think Metal Gear Solid 2 was like a $10 million project. Are they saying it takes $30 to $40 million to make a PS3/360 game?

Considering how much crap the Wii gets, I'd say many gamers indirectly wish there were such contracts again. A huge reason for those contracts was because of what happened to Atari when most third-parties just dumped games on the system, effectively killing the market and audience interest. Why do you think so many people erroneously bring up the Nintendo Seal of Quality.

DLC sutff like this alone is the reason I'd rather wait. They might throw out a re-release like Burnout Paradise or those Metal Gear Solid games. Bug fixes too.

EA announces Dead Space for Wii, hints at MotionPlus support

It's a dimly lit space station. How badly can it possibly look with a (hopefully) highly competent staff working on it? Maybe they'll make it a prequel.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings swings onto Wii, DS in Spring 2009

I'd rather keep Jar Jar than the young Anakin's "oops" dialog and his miraculous destruction of the space station. Actually the whole space station space battle was weak. The veteran pilots (the actors) and their banter were poor and didn't feel believable, whilst Anakin didn't seem all that concerned in the kind of trouble he was in. Jake Lloyd's performance in some parts really killed it (ex. he's "frantic" search of the weapon systems of his downed craft with his blah blah thrown about dialog was terrible).

Pachter: Wii sales surpass PS2's initial 2-year performance

The reason Nintendo consoles had become systems you get only for Nintendo games (not really true for most) is because third-parties keep playing this indecisive game of will they, won't they. If you ask what a person buys a Playstation 2 for, you'd probably find names like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, etc. Those are third-party games. Those are the games that become the corner stone of a system and its legacy that is followed by the next same brand system. There's a guarantee of sorts in people's minds when they're deciding on what console to buy. Nintendo lost the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy titles during the N64, and with that brings uncertainty. One of the reasons I bought a GameCube was because there was a guarantee of the entire Resident Evil series on it. What guarantees can you say of third-party games/franchises that will grace the Wii? Even though the Cube got a Tales game or MGS Twin Snakes or Soul Calibur II, what exactly happened after that? Nothing followed of those franchise but the PS2, well it got like five Tales games, at least two (new, neither port or remake) MGS games, and Soul Calibur III. Nintendo needs some sort of mainstay to their lineup that comes form third-party software providers, and I don't mean the type that Ubisoft's been dishing out.

Pachter: Wii sales surpass PS2's initial 2-year performance

So there's this thing called a PC, it plays video games AND other non-gaming related application. I mean isn't that what people touted the Playstation brand brought to the table - the ability to have expanded functions like playing music and movie discs. Well you can't complain about the Wii "destroying" gaming and then complain about the Wii not having DVD playback, especially when the software people complain about that are "non-games" are more games than the movies these systems are suppose to be able to play.

Phil Harrison would 'love' to prove Activision wrong about Ghostbusters

Dec 18th 2008 12:58AM (Joystiq)
I hope he's right but what are the chances of getting a follow-up game and still retain the actors? This could very well be a one time extravaganza and any sequel might have altered faces of Bill Murray and different voices.

Batman: Arkham Asylum gets Hamill's Joker, Conroy's Batman

Dec 18th 2008 12:55AM (Joystiq)
This and Ghostbusters. Please don't screw it up like, say, on the level of Alone in the Dark. We've got good writers and great voice talent that tickle people's nostalgia for the properties. It would be such a hair pulling tragedy to get this caliber of talent only to get another buggy, poorly executed game. At least kill bugs if nothing else.
