Report: Nintendo most reputable game company, sixth overall

May 8th 2009 3:54PM (Joystiq)
@Archon
Wow, your logic is greatly flawed. Apparently, you didn't read the actual article. They do explain how they calculate everyone's pulse rate by this:

Methodology: The Reputation Institute's Global Pulse is a measure of corporate reputation calculated by averaging perceptions of four indicators--trust, esteem, admiration, and good feeling--obtained from a representative sample of at least 100 respondents in the companies' home countries. The Global Pulse scores are on a scale of 0 to 100.

Base off your logic, Apple should be among the top ten because they have sold millions of their products and everyone seems to know about iPhones, but they are ranked at 52. With Microsoft at rank 30. So, don't be stupid. Read pass the data and read about methodology for a better picture. OR pay attention in school.

They should have named it, "Big Trouble in Little China." Man, that movie was too weird.

E308: Wii MotionPlus puts better control in your motion control

Jul 14th 2008 12:54PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
This probably makes the Wiimote more sensitive to movements. Look at Wii Sports for example. I get really frustrated when i putt, cause all I want to do is tap the ball in. Since it's a very small swing, it doesn't register on the Wiimote. Then you keep swinging and swinging with the short swing and you probably get pissed with it. That's what Nintendo probably fixed. =D

Granted some of you are like couldn't have they done this when they shipped it out, well, the problem with that is the Wiimote is already small. Let's see what's in it: Bluetooth module, 2 AAs, small (I mean SMALL) memory for Mii storage, rumble feature, speaker, high-quality infrared camera, accelerator, and the rest circuitry. So you tell me where they are going to expand on a better controls?

Fastest-ever Windows HPC cluster nets 68.5 teraflops

@TravisJohn

That wasn't my point. The video was to say that you can make an affordable one. Yes, granted you have 8 processors going all at once. You should just get a Mac Pro, because it uses 8 also and costs less, but we don't consider that a supercomputer. Granted it's fast, but it's not a supercomputer.

My point originally was that it consumes more power than a normal cpu unit. Also like stated earlier you would have to have many cabinets chained together to run something that size.

Dude, I wouldn't want to be in the room to play that game. At least there's no lag. :D

What are you talking about use a bunch of GPU cores? GPU is for graphics and CPU is for memory and processes. Two different things. Plus GPUs just help the CPU by getting some of the graphics power of the CPU. So in otherwords, why on earth would you want that many GPU cores? It also wastes a ton of power and the motherboard would easily shut down due to heat.

LED flashlight talks you through basic CPR

Jun 8th 2008 12:04PM (Engadget)
I had to take CPR for work at the Red Cross and this is a joke, because a CPR certification only lasts one year. Apparently, they modify CPR every year. Like you can't check an adult's pulse now, because of heart attack risks. So really this whole device is really pointless. Granted it might save a life, but still.
