First Look: TweetDeck for iPhone

Jun 17th 2009 9:29AM (TUAW.com)
There is apparently a Cocoa version of TweetDeck coming out for the desktop, no? Until then, I won't be installing it on my mac.

As for the iPhone client, I think it's great. I'll probably be using Twitterrific on my Mac and TweetDeck on my iPhone for the time being.

Nice app.

TUAW First Look: 1Password touch 2.0 for iPhone and iPod touch

Jun 3rd 2009 5:10PM (TUAW.com)
So I have 1Password on my Mac (this is a great program- you should definitely give it a try) but I'm stumped with the iPhone app.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong or don't understand the functionality, but I can't get it to work with my standalone apps (is it even supposed to?). That is, I use 1PW on my Mac to login to BoA.com, but my iPhone has a BoA app. Do these two play nice together? I can't seem to make them if they are supposed to.

I really love the program but I'm not quite sold on the iPhone app yet.

MacUpdate Promo Spring Bundle revealed

May 28th 2009 2:18PM (TUAW.com)
Agreed- it usually seems like there is one app that I'd maybe sorta marginally use and a bunch of other junk that was thrown in as filler.

Sometimes they're great: I'll prolly pass on this one.

Tennessee Titans: Trying to Forget That Ugly Ending

Feb 24th 2009 5:34PM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
Don't go on the defensive guy (pardon the pun). I ascertained that you are like many of the Titans fans that I see every week from my seat: all but clueless about football in general. The very fact that you even invoke Drew Bennett's name as a possible solution to the perceived problem of depth at the receiver spot speaks volumes to your lack of insight about Titans football. Yeah, right, from "what you've heard" Jeff Fisher didn't want VY. And from what everybody else has heard, Drew Bennett is just absolutely awful.

I'm sorry that you are not a fan of Fisher's. I could almost get on board with you when you say that he should've put his foot down with Pacman, and maybe he IS overrated (look at his post-season record and then look at Schottenheimer's, and then look at what happened to the latter.) But that's about where we stop agreeing I think.

As far as the slight modification need to the defense, well that remains to be seen. If Haynesworth heads for greener pastures, do you really think that the defense needs only a slight modification? Nick Harper isn't getting any younger, either. I, like you apparently, am not too concerned with Haynesworth's absence. If you want to talk about an overrated guy, look no further. His best seasons come in contract years, and the buzz is that there aren't that many teams willing to stick a pile of guaranteed dough in front of him like he wants, save maybe the Redskins.

The fact is at 30th in the draft, with a core group of players that will remain together, the Titans are in a unique situation in that they can take the best available player in the draft, (nearly) regardless of position. Don't be surprised when the Titans don't take a receiver as they can clearly win games with (at best) #2 or #3 guys like Gage.

Tennessee Titans: Trying to Forget That Ugly Ending

Feb 24th 2009 11:13AM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
Drew Bennett? Really?

We already have a never-ending crop of mediocre 2nd and 3rd string receivers. We need a vertical threat to open up the running game, not another Justin Gage/Justin McCareins/Drew Bennet/Any Other Random No-name Receiver.

Don't get me wrong: I think Gage is great. But don't think for a second that he'd be the number 1 guy on any other competitive team.

Titans will not draft a receiver in the first round: they didn't do it last year, even with all of the hoo-hah that that idiot Mel Kiper spouted and they won't do it this year. Look, it's not Jeff Fisher's style, period. He has a meticulous group of scouts and assistants that look at many things before making a decision. To suggest that the Titans should trade up to draft Crabtree demonstrates a lack of understanding of the Titans' play style.

Vince Young is the future QB for the Titans. Whether he plays this year or not is immaterial: Fisher has said, time and time again, that he will be the QB in the future. End of story. Apparently, nobody is listening. We won't be drafting Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford or Joe Quarterback in 2010 with VY on the roster.

While I'm at it, let's not forget about Lavelle Hawkins. I bet he sees a little more play this year after the coaching staff realizes what an absolute BUST Brandon Jones is/was/forever-will-be. I, like you, think TJ would be an enormous pickup. But I think that Drew Bennett, if what you say is true, would be an enormous mistake.

Can we please send McCareins packing? I voted for letting him ride the plane back to New York with the rest of the Jets this past year: apparently nobody cared.

Last thought: see ya Haynesworth, have fun in Washington (looks likely he'll be going there.) I just hope the Redskins realize that he'll take 3 weeks to realize how poorly that organization is run before he starts phoning it in for the huge payday that he'll likely receive. JASON JONES 4 LIFE!

Collins' Quotes Give the Titans More Free Agent Headaches

Feb 9th 2009 11:27AM (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
WTF. The titans have a QB already, and I hear he's pretty good. Of the 07/08 and 08/09 seasons, with 2 different starting QBs, who do you think had the higher QB rating? Hint: it wasn't Collins.

Let that dimwit go- if he thinks he can start somewhere else, more power to him. But if he thinks for one SECOND that the Titans face-smashing rushing attack and brutal defense that oftentimes gave him great field position had nothing to do with his mediocrity, Kerry Collins is the asshat that I always knew he was. Oh, and anybody who thinks VY doesn't fit into the Titans offensive scheme (read: short outs to the TE's and run run run), you are not paying attention. The Titans will NEVER have a vertical passing attack, and to hold VY to some standard that includes that is ludicrous. Don't tell me that VY could not have deftly handed the ball off to CJ & LenWhale 451 times like Collins did.

Give VY the damn ball and let that old bag of bones Collins retire. Priorities: Haynesworth, Scaife, and Collins is somewhere well down the line behind our 3rd and 4th string corners. Cya old man!

Country music DLC to invade Rock Band

Dec 5th 2008 10:54AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I dunno, there were plenty (PLENTY) of songs on Rock Band/Guitar Hero that I had never heard before playing them on the game. I grew to love them very much (most of them anyhow).

Why not give some country songs a chance? I'm not a big fan of most stuff that comes out of my home city (I live a few blocks from Music Row in Nashville) but I will say that Brad Paisley can play circles around many rock guitarists of today.

And, if all else fails, you don't have to buy them, as has been echoed previously.

How knswledgable are you about cartgriqdges?

Nov 5th 2008 11:33AM (TUAW.com)
Fun fact: knowledgable is also an acceptable spelling of the word according to a few online dictionaries. I run into a similar problem with the word "acknowledgments" quite often.

First Look: Equivalence for iPhone

The program looks neat, but you can do this for free without downloading anything by going to google.

It knows just about every unit conversion you can think of.

DS Daily: Any Phats still out there?

Jul 23rd 2008 1:04PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Well, since your comment is the one that I feel probably made me make the comment that I did, I have no problem quoting it:

As I stated above, upgrading to the Lite is far more than a slight aesthetic change.

And by the way, I don't think anybody is being narrow-minded or railing against anything. As I said above, if you don't want to upgrade, cool. But don't for a second think that the upgrade only involves aesthetic changes: it's not like buying another Lite in a different shade (which, by the way, is also not "unthinkable" but rather "prerogative").
