Password management that doesn't suck - Ask DLS

Jan 4th 2007 9:12PM (Download Squad)
Based on the fact that we are talking about access to your most sensitive data, I would say spend the 29.95 on roboform and feel good about it. It has a portable version, can record not only passwords, but credit card info, and any other data you want encrypted. You don't have to rely on any plugins developed who-knows-where. One of the best features I love about it is that it hooks into both IE and Firefox and as you enter login info it automatically logs it into the program. I've used it for a couple of years now, and it does everything I need. The only thing different with Firefox is that you also need to download a separate adapter module(free) in addition to the basic program.

Why digg is destined for failure

Dec 12th 2006 9:40PM (Download Squad)
I completely agree with your comments. Digg has become an utter waste of time for me. You can get much more relevent news just be reading key blogs. And the secret gestapo who digg down stories they don't like is a little sick in my opinion.

Extensive Stikkit review by John Gruber

I completely disagree with John's comments on the premise. The premise is so intuitive and simple, it's a wonder someone else didn't think of it before. I mean, hmmm, let's see, all I have to do is type and the system figures out what I want to do! Amazing that computing technology is actually being used intelligently instead of just recreating what I can do on paper, a al Backpack, etc......

I would second the first poster's remark about iCommit (http://die-bernhardts.macbay.de/). This is without a doubt the best online implementation of GTD I've seen.

Gift Guide: Open an office with StarOffice

Dec 26th 2005 1:50PM (Download Squad)
Great idea for a gift. I've use StarOffice and it very polished, and the support is first rate. So if you don't mind paying a bit to get a fully supported product, this is the best alternative to Office, and even better if you need cross platform compatibility.
