Bethesda's Todd Howard on Skyrim's biggest development hurdle, fan-made mods, and what happens next

Mar 12th 2012 7:31PM (Joystiq)
At least Bethesda has the scruples not to release day 1 DLC like another company that beings with a B.

Witcher 2 devs: 'We will never use any DRM anymore'

Mar 8th 2012 3:43PM (Joystiq)
@Jackleope Sounds more like Stardock's inability to conceive of a method to prevent pirates from logging into online games than a statement about the effectiveness of DRM.

@Lerkero

So one incident tarnishes how they manage their entire operation?

I love this game! I just wish most of the people I play against would make more than one or two moves and disappear forever.

Star Wars: The Old Republic performance fears are overblown, says analyst

Gotta love the ever present logical fallacy in Joystiq comments:

James Ohlen hits back against critics, defends SWTOR's innovation

Get a clue James, nobody wanted you to fail. They wanted you to make a game that truly innovated and revolutionized the genre. You failed to delivery on both counts.

EA claims First Amendment protections against expected helicopter lawsuit

Jan 10th 2012 3:29PM (Joystiq)
These aircraft were paid for by taxpayer dollars, so as far as I am concerned EA is in the right to use them.

Skyrim's PS3 stuttering bug to be 'addressed' this month, Bethesda says

Jan 10th 2012 3:15PM (Joystiq)
@LinkRazr

Actually, it has the same amount of RAM as the 360, it's just architecturally different. The PS3 splits RAM into system (256M) and video (256M). The 360 has a total of 512M that can be used as either system or video, allowing developers more flexibility.

Bethesda has said before that this bug exists because of this architectural limitation, so I'd be curious to know what the technical details of their fix are given that they initially blamed the bug on the hardware. This would imply a software fix would be either extremely difficult or just altogether impossible.
