The only two things that come to mind are: GPU, and CPU. Either that, or the companies who are making Broadway & Hollywood- IBM & AMD I think????
Major next-gen console news coming tonight [update 1]
Sep 7th 2006 9:55PM (Joystiq)Anyways, I was just getting the information from the man himself, Robert Summa. I hope you don't mind Robert.
Anyways, we are all waiting for the big news. Keep up the good work with the site. You guys are going a great job.
PS3 to outsell Revolution by 33%-60% in 2006 (USA)
Mar 21st 2006 9:00PM (Joystiq)I can't see Nintendo launching the Revolution, with only 750k's units. Since Revolution should be much easier to manufacture than PS3, Nintendo should be able to have at least 1 million units ready for launch.
Although Nintendo states that they aren't in "direct" competition with Sony, I'm sure that they want to get enough consoles out there in the market, so that people will at least consider buying it.
It wouldn't surprise me though, if Sony takes that amount of lead over Revolution. I'm still looking forward to the Revolution though, and I hope both consoles succeed.
Btw, Joystiq, keep up the good work with these PS3/Revolution news items.
Zelda: TP will be "special" on the Revolution
Feb 20th 2006 9:48PM (Joystiq)Although Nintendo said that they're not going to be in direct competition with Sony, who knows that they aren't delaying Zelda:TP, to have a wicked game like this, to counter with the PS3 launch. It might seem a little out left field...but think about it. There's been reports in the news today, that a Sony rep said that it's possible that the PS3 could be delayed.
Who knows, maybe Nintendo knows something that we don't, and therefore is preparing Zelda:TP to go head to head with the PS3, although it'll be a current gen game, versus next gen games.
Zelda: Twilight Princess delay is official
Feb 19th 2006 12:23PM (Joystiq)It was the obvious thing to do from a business prespective. Have one of the most well respected game, close to the launch of a new console. By having it next to Revo's launch, Nintendo is able to make more money, and sell more Revo consoles.
At this point in time, I think it would be foolish to think that Zelda:TP will not take advantage of the Revolution Controller, although Nintendo has not confirmed, nor denied it.
No matter if it's coming out at the end of the GCN's life cycle, the game is still going to sell in great numbers. If people won't buy it for their existing Gamecube, they'll buy it for Revolution.
As being a gamer myself, I am also very disappointed in this news. I was looking forward to playing it much much sooner.
Ah well, I suppose it's better to look at it from a positive point of view. The longer it takes, the better it'll be...hopefully.
Phil Harrison to give GDC keynote
Feb 16th 2006 4:38PM (Joystiq)Panadero:
What, more broken promises and faulty hardware? I can't wait.
I agree with you, that Sony has broke many promises, their hardware has been faulty. The point I was trying to make, is that no matter, if the samething happens this time around (broken promises, faulty hardware, etc), people are still going to buy it, because they like Sony products.
As for myself, I'm going to buy a Revolution, because I believe that Nintendo has a good strategy this time around. Nintendo did make mistakes with the Gamecube, no doubt on that one, but they're appear to be making up for it, with Revolution.
A couple years down the road, I plan to purchase the PS3 as well. The PS3 does seem like that it'll have some great games.
No doubt, this next generation will be interesting.
