Sony CEO says they're looking to 'refine' PS3 price

Jun 14th 2007 11:26PM (Joystiq)
@Matt B

Jebus, when are you going to admit that something is wrong with the way the PS3 is selling, I mean, my god, EVEN SONY KNOWS SOMETHING IS WRONG!

Yes, 600 for the PS3 with all of its features is a steal, BUT obviously people don't care, 600 dollars for a videogame console is still 600 dollars for a item that isn't a necessity, no matter the value.

I have a PS3, so far I've only bought Resistance and I own about 20 Blu-Ray movies and every other major game I've bought for the 360, something is wrong with the PS3 and Sony needs to fix it fast.

May NPD: Nintendo still on top, industry sales up 49%

What you guys have to remember is that the Wii is like a Ford Focus and the PS3 is like a Mustang.

No Final Fantasy for Xbox 360 in the works [update]

Jun 6th 2007 4:20AM (Joystiq)
After reading through the comments here I think I can honestly say I hate fanboys. It's weird you only see them on the internet or among friends but out in the wild they're hiding.

Ah forget it, you guys convinced me!

The PS3 is an over-priced train-wreck.

The only reason the 360 has sold so much is because of its faulty hardware. I'm on my tenth one and my friends are at least on their 8th or 9th by now.

The Wii is a total gimmick that will wear off in 6 months, if it doesn't, extend that prediction another six months.

Bloomberg: Wii/PS3 gap continues to widen in Japan

Jebus, seriously, how many times can you guys talk/debate about the SAME THING?

Well, onto next weeks Japanese hardware sales for the same exact conversation.

It may be official, Halo 3 cover art appears

Jun 2nd 2007 7:03PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think MS and Bungie could have just wrote "Halo 3" on the cover in black lettering on a white background in Times New Roman and it would still sell a butt-load.

Looks nice by the way.

Everyone has a Viva Piņata confession

I loved Viva Pinata, reminded me of a game that Nintendo would make, and coming from Rare I was surprised. The game proved to me that Rare hasn't completley lost it yet.

You guys do know you're arguing about a phrase, and a silly one at that.

Anyway, @11, that girl is fine. Axe products still smell like sh!t to me though, I always laugh when I smell it on another guy and I think to myself, "Yeah right buddy."

Game developers debate Xbox achievements

Jun 1st 2007 11:44PM (Joystiq)
I think those crappy games would have sold regardless of the achievment system, every system has its POS pile and the people that buy them. Unless I'm mistaken I don't remember TMNT breaking any sales records, most likely people just went out and rented it.

But the same can be said for any game, great or not, due to the achievment system and the people who strive for a higher gamer score they'll end up picking up more games and playing different genres. I don't see how that's a bad thing.

There will always be people who buy games based on it's quality and there will be people who buy games because it's "easy", but in this case it's easy achievment points.

Game developers debate Xbox achievements

Jun 1st 2007 11:27PM (Joystiq)
"so for the most part these are the guys who make the games the rest of us play"

Just because they make the games we play does not mean they know how we like to play, I think that's stupid. Movie directors and producers make the movies we watch, sure doesn't mean they know what we like and/or don't like to watch, same argument for pretty much anything people enjoy.

Personally, I like the achievment system, I've played so many games this generation that I wouldn't have even touched before. Achievements have opened and re-opened generes for me that I either neglected or irgnored. For example, I wouldn't even have tried Viva Pinata, but since I wanted those achievements I bought it and I loved it.

Don't tell me what I do or don't like, I'll decide if it's good for me or not and don't hide under the fact that you're a developer and in "the know" because I don't care. I'll just keep playing the games you make and if you stop then someone is bound to take your place.
