Mojang hoping to build official Minecraft LEGOs
Dec 6th 2011 6:15AM (Joystiq)It's more like saying "I have a bucket of sands" or "would you like some pastas?"
You don't need to pluralise it because it is already being used to describe more than one unit. If you want to refer to a single element you need to talk about a grain of sand, a piece of pasta or a lego block.
Toyota develops rear-collision airbag
Oct 2nd 2008 5:28AM (Engadget)Really? Never seen a post about the French being cheese-eating surrender monkeys? Or the English having bad teeth?
At least the post was actually true, the American car market places far more importance on price than any other feature. That's why ABS brakes and decent suspension took so long to reach the states.
And yes, a lot of us do have quite intimate knowledge of foreign cultures, having lived in more than one country.
French public rail trials RFID / USB combo ticket system
Sep 5th 2008 4:05AM (Engadget)The exact same system could be implemented with a chip that requires contact and people wouldn't be able to skim your RFID account number (by simply walking close to you with a scanner) and buy travel with your credit.
Keeping a single piece of info on the chip reduces the security risks down to a single vulnerability, but it's a pretty big one.
Counting Rupees: Sustainable Indies
Aug 27th 2008 8:22AM (Joystiq)To make it worthwhile he doesn't just need to cover costs, he has to recover the 3 years of missed revenue that the game cost him. We don't know that his artist didn't turn down some lucrative commissions that he needs compensating for either.
If I left my job now and didn't get paid for the next 3 years I'd need to be pretty sure that I was going to recoup at least half a mill or I couldn't afford the risk.
Time = Money.
Counting Rupees: Sustainable Indies
Aug 27th 2008 8:12AM (Joystiq)The time mechanics evolve as the game progresses and I can forgive someone who has only played the demo for thinking that it's a mario ripoff with rewind.
The reality is that as you progress through the game you encounter some of the most amazing puzzles you'll have ever seen and the platformer aspect falls away. The changing time mechanics really make you think in a completely different way at times and that's impressive.
X3F Insight: Why should we care about Braid?
Aug 11th 2008 12:57PM (Joystiq Xbox)The ending is phenomenal.
Discussing price on a title of this quality is absurd. Just because it's delivered through Xbox Live Arcade doesn't mean it can't be worth 1/4 of a Madden game.
Skip a couple of trips to starbucks and buy a life-altering piece of art instead. This is one of the best designed games to have been released in the last few years. It's up there with Bioshock and
Portal and worth just as much as those titles were.
Pricing and value can certainly be relative. Root Beer Tapper was ridiculously overpriced at 400 ms points. Braid is cheap at 1200.

Oct 5th 2006 9:52AM (Engadget HD)Mysterious GP2X "second edition" now shipping
Feb 7th 2006 4:41AM (Joystiq)Mine is a fantastic little gadget and I'm really happy with it. I've used it for emulation, homebrew games, watching ripped dvds, reading ebooks and, of course, running my own code.
So far I'd say it has performed amazingly. I get about 3 hours out of a pair of 2500mah energizers.
It seems that Lik-Sang missed out on the deadline to get the units with "First Edition" stamped on and came up with this whole "we'll only ship it when everything works" story to cover up for having to delay a bunch of pre-orders.
I'd recommend buying from http://www.gp2x.co.uk or http://www.gp2x.de/shop/index.php
