I really don't see Xenogears as needing a defense, any more than any other game. There will be people who love it, people who hate it, and people who are on the fence.

I loved the game and the world it created, but let's be honest, there was so much cut. Aside from the files on the disc, if you ever read the Perfect Works book, you'd see things like Omnigears versions of Crescens and Siebzehn(sp?). There is so much backstory in that world that was never/barely touched upon in the game.

I love the game, and while some may have found the 2nd disc to be a refreshing change of pace, I think even they might agree that something is wrong when there is a 90 minute wall of text and cutscenes. If Hideo Kojima ever tried that (though I can't help but feel it's not for lack of wanting to), people would snap his games in two.

Yes, the PS Vita is selling less systems (and will probably never sell as many systems as the 3DS), but both in terms of actual numbers or percentage, the drop off in sales from the second to third week is less than the 3DSs.

I'm curious as to why everyone seems to keep calling this a reboot. A reboot is when they ignore whatever is previously canon to create a new story.

In the words of the creator of this game, this is just an Origins story, a prequel to the original games. IIRC, part of Lara's background was that she a privileged daughter who was in a plane crash in the mountains that killed the rest of her family, and when she managed to get back to civilization, she was a changed girl. The picture seems to fit with that.

It is common knowledge. However, the big screen Bond is the one that was popular, that raked in the millions, that people have come to expect.

It's interesting, but even as I liked Casino Royale, it felt weird having what appeared to be a 50+ year old man be on his first assignment. (Am I aware that Craig is 42? Yes, but he's aged BADLY).

And when you get down to it, it might be a better movie than Golden Eye, but it doesn't feel like a 007 movie. I watch Bond for cheesy one-liners, and over-the-top gadgets, and Craig's movies just didn't quite satisfy those.

Come to think of it, Casino Royale is a perfect comparison. Take the character before he became famous, then age him 100+ years for no good reason.

I'm not against a reboot in principle, but am I the only one who thinks Dante looks older here than he does in any other game? Also, it REALLY looks like the creative director took the opportunity to make Dante look like him:

Dawn of Sorrow. Art direction aside, I love direct sequels.
