I think is the good chance for third parties. They should try to create great games and gain a space in all Nintendo gamers hearts.

Link and Samus in Super Mario RPG, In the same game, you can turn into 8-bit Mario in Booster's Tower [Only in one room, but with the original music, and when you walk into a door, you run behind the curtain to turn back to RPG's Mario]. There are many others easter eggs in that game.

Also there were Mario paintings in Zelda Ocarina of Time, in Hyrule Castle, where you meet Zelda.

$5 is ideal.
$10 is OK and what it should be [To make everyone happy].
$15 or more is too much.

I'd buy all right to make new 2D games like in the past. Mario, Sonic, Donkey Kong, and many others. Battletoads remake? I don't know, but I'd do anything possible to revive 2D just like Megaman 9 is about to do.

Also, I'd buy the games that only released in Japan. This part of the world needs those games.
