Sep 10th 2006 10:22PM (Joystiq)1. Really go out there on the level design. This first level looks to be some pretty standard first level fare (The second half being almost *too* green.), but making vibrant and creative levels could make this game a must buy. Think Kirby's Canvas Curse.
2. Increasing levels should mean more than a little extra damage on attacks. A little size increase (ala Gauntlet) or an extra attack (or a combo attack) go a long way to adding elements to gameplay. Not necessarily every level, but possibly every 5 or so.
3. More varied enemy types please! I imagine this is but a small sample of the games enemy types, but in this entire video there are only two, and the boss. Smacking around the same little brown dudes could get tiring. Palette swaps are your friend!
4. Hidden stuff. Hidden stuff makes every game in the world more enjoyable. A hidden mount, a hidden weapon, a hidden boss cameo (Pirate baby!!!), sneak some Alien Hominid action in there, ***items to change characters into hulking Behemoths themselves***(very cool idea). Anything hidden and players will keep coming back to discover secrets.
That's really all the advice I have. I hope this game is everything I'm wishing it to become, and please deliver some Pirate Baby someday.
