Jan 8th 2010 11:56PM (Engadget)Personally, that ratio is just too wide for a tv. It works well in a movie theater where the screen is that much bigger.

Dec 30th 2009 3:28AM (Engadget)I just realized if you look at the picture on the top of the page the center iphone shows what I'm talking about pretty well. Every article name is chopped off.

Dec 30th 2009 3:23AM (Engadget)The overall design of the app is very nice, however viewing engadget itself is not so great. First of all, the absence is landscape mode for this app is inexcusable. This ties into its other flaws.
When you are browsing this site on a PC, or even mobile safari, you see the store title, and maybe the first two paragraphs of the article. This allows me to skim through the atricle to see if it really is something that is "click worthy"
On the Iphone app, all you see an amazingly short title for the article. In fact, most of the articles names are so long they can't fit them in the app in the first place. (this could be easily fixed by adding a landscape mode) You dont get any of the articles text, just a chopped off title.
When I see this I find it much easier to pass an article by. And what if you have an article name that is a pun? It would be chopped off and wouldnt make any sence.
There needs to be a better method of viewing information for the site, because the experience in mobile safari in landscape mode blows this app away, Theres just no reason to use it.
It can be fixed, Make it so engadget.
