How to change the screen time-out on Android

Feb 7th 2011 11:27AM (Download Squad)
I use the MiniInfo Widget (free). It gives you any three bits of system info you choose (batt. %, CPU %, Storage Space, for example) in a live widget, and more importantly, when you click on it you get a scrolling list of settings buttons with Screen timeout, brightness, etc..

I also use Widgetsoid (free), which lets you mix any combo of settings, toggles, and shortcuts you want into a custom widget in a variety of sizes.

In Android, you never have to go thru menu trees to access frequently used settings. There are widgets for it.

Enjoy

Camtasia 7.1 giveaway and video review

It's an animation platform, as far as I am concerned. And it would basically put you in a position to give your little web shorts TV-style bogus computer interfaces and stuff. Like SVU's "Facespace".
Awesome. Sign me up.

Unlock Guybrush Threepwood in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

Oh I see now the shots on the facebook source page are clearer, and it does look more like a face. So maybe not a droid or mask.

Ah well, was a solid theory for a second there.

Unlock Guybrush Threepwood in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

He's a droid, or a gangly being in a Boushh-style mask.

Is my guess.

Presuming that's the actual model they're using, at the top of the post. That don't look like any organic skin/scales/carapace/etc.

Dropbox updates iOS apps, announces App Directory

Sep 28th 2010 10:07AM (TUAW.com)
Well, I guess it's a nip it in the bud type thing, where you have to draw the line early lest every post about something with a referral program will have its comments rendered unreadable by a flood of referral link posts chaffing up the wheat.

But I know if I had been aware of the referral deal when I signed up, I would have wanted to use it. It's a free token, why not give it to someone?

And why not to someone good, like a Download Squad reader.

But yeah I get why they have to ban 'em.

DLS Review: Dropbox for Android, now you have access to your cloud storage wherever you go

Sep 27th 2010 10:27AM (Download Squad)
On the "costly 3g" point - for those with unlimited data plans, which can be found at rates well below the AT&T gouge-level if you don't mind switching carriers to Sprint, to name one, this becomes that much more useful. I wouldn't bother streaming media through Dropbox unless I really wanted to show someone something right this minute, but it's nice to know that's an option.

It's also worth noting that, unlike your desktop Dropbox folder, the one on you phone does -not- automatically sync. It syncs the list of what files are in your dropbox, but none of them actually come down to your phone until you direct them to do so, one by one.

Which is to say, you're not signing over 2gb of your phone's SD to this by installing the app.

Final note - I'd love to see this get more robust download manager-style functionality, specifically the ability to resume partial or interrupted downloads. I'm only using this for smallish files now, after a 230mb video file lost connection at about 95%, and I had to start all over.

Also, to jump on the gimme train, I'd sure be grateful if you use my link (after the gentlemen above get a few pops, as they're first in line :) to sign up, as you'll get and extra 250mb and I will too :)

Enjoy! This really is a fantastic service.

Ha, someone's hacked the list of hacks. Unless the music hacks were all named under a theme of "viiagra" and "ciaalis".

Boo, spammers. Boo.
