That said, The Daily's focus is (at least right now) on style over substance. I think someone mentioned that it reads and looks like People magazine. Content-wise, yes. I definitely give it kudos for presentation.

But it's just TOO damn long for a daily publication -- maybe it was just because it was the first issue, but it took me nearly 45 minutes to scan the entire publication from front to end last evening. I take about half that time catching up completely each morning, using a combination of Google Reader and Google News.

Interesting publishing model, great-looking publication, content, meh -- we'll see how it goes from here...

I'm not leaving this comment to win a Noteshelf license, I'm merely an EXTREMELY satisfied and impressed customer. Listen, folks, even if you DON'T win a license through this contest, pony up the $5 to buy this app, follow up with the purchase of an Acase or Boxwave stylus, and start to get even MORE utility out of your iPad!!

I purchased Noteshelf around the holidays when I received my iPad, primarily because of the TUAW review I read here earlier. Noteshelf makes doing handwritten notetaking a real joy on iPad -- it is, in my opinion, the singular most effective note-taking app on the App Store.

I'm not affiliated with the publisher, but as I said, just a REAL happy customer -- run, don't walk, to buy your copy of Noteshelf (unless you win a license here!)...

Yes, that's exactly why I praised Apple profusely and generally subsidize the company by buying their products MOST of the time. F'ing TOOL.

Caveat: I am an Apple WHORE, through and through -- have owned myriad Macs over the years, as well as iPods and iPod touches (no iPhones though). Having said that, my assessment is that Apple ROYALLY SCREWED up on the iPhone 4 release. I think they knew about the antenna reception issues and went ahead and released iPhone 4 anyway, and now they're "paying the price." What's truly unacceptable, though, is the blanket dismissal by Apple fanbois of Consumer Reports, as if the publication and itscompanion web site is some fly-by-night, flash-in-the-pan blog. Get over yourselves, fanbois -- and admit that Apple has an issue to fix, at least for a fair amount of iPhone 4 owners. Stevie Jobs' reality distortion field just ain't big enough to cover THIS demonstration of extreme hubris. Hopefully, they'll rectify the hardware issue sooner rather than later. Not that I care, since I'm a satisfied MotoDroid owner... :)

Mac Diva, your bull**** detector may require some additional alignment. I'm not affiliated with Quickoffice in ANY way, and was in fact skeptical and hesitant to purchase that developer's $20 iPhone app, wanting instead to wait for DTG to debut on the iPhone platform. Know what, though? I needed a mobile office solution in mid-May - the ORIGINALLY promised timeframe that DataViz gave regarding the delivery of DTG - and it didn't appear in the App Store until this past Sunday. Blame the delay on Apple's App Store approval process all you want, but DataViz lost a handful of willing customers because of their blown deadline - read their Facebook fan page.

Anyway, I moved on and purchased Quickoffice v1.2, and I'm seriously glad I did because I believe that Qo is the competitor to beat right now. Aleen touts the sync feature of a separate desktop client, but why should I have to install ANOTHER piece of software just to move files to/from my iPhone?? I prefer to mount the unit as a disk on the desktop; others will not, and will want to the convenience of a client sync.

My bottom line is that DataViz should *NOT* have released an iPhone version of DTG until it was ready for primetime - it's about a 1/3 of the way there right now, will likely match and perhaps even exceed the abilities of Quickoffice v1.2, but in my opinion, not right now.

Totally disagree with aleenm88's assessment of DTG - sorry, but DTG in its (EXTREMELY late!) debut on the iPhone OS does not compare to Quickoffice v1.2, at least right now. I realize that DTG *will* have future updates that alleviate some of its current shortcomings, but right now the following are dealbreakers for DTG that make me glad I spent the $20 on Quickoffice:

- Having to install a SEPARATE desktop client for syncing!!
- Very limited on-screen editing areas in DTG (slightly better in Qo)
- SLOOWW response times using and typing in DTG

I very nearly waited for DTG's debut on iPhone but am so glad I sprung for Quickoffice several weeks ago - I'm completely underwhelmed by DTG. Hopefully it will get better quickly and more aptly compete with Quickoffice 1.2.

Tweetie also supports multiple Twitter accounts, which TwitterFon (to the best of my recollection) does not. That was the primary reason I sprung real $$$ for an iPhone Twitter client...

Lesa Snider King needs to get over A) herself, and B) her victim complex. This is typical of the media whoredom that is rampant throughout our lovely country these days. Another case in point -- the NJ inbreds who've made a stink about ShopRite not putting their kid's ridiculous and offensive name (Adolf Hitler Something-or-Other) on a cake they ordered from the store. (ShopRite also apparently refused to put one of the other kids' name -- middle name of Aryan Nation -- on a cake on a previous visit.)

I swear, if I could move to and sustain myself and my family on the Moon, I would...

James, I found after having both Stanza and eReader installed for several weeks on my iPod touch, that I spent MUCH more time reading in Stanza and NO time reading in eReader. Not that I don't like the eReader app, nor am I averse to buying e-books -- but I just preferred a somewhat simpler and more intuitive reading interface in Stanza, wasn't purchasing any e-books, and didn't want two e-book applications on my iPod. Haven't looked back, but it's nice knowing that if I DO want to buy a DRM'ed e-book, I'll now be able to do so within Stanza -- it's a truly awesome, useful app!
