@chrisgrant I'd have to go with what Anticrawl said. It's about 50/50. It may be worth mentioning, but I don't think it deserves the snark. As other posters have noted, the NES/SNES shared power connectors, and the SNES/N64/GameCube all shared the same video cable connectors. There's about as precedence for and against. It's not like they change it with every single iteration.

What habit is that exactly? The GBA SP was their first rechargeable portable. Its charger is compatible with the DS, and the XLs use the same connectors as their smaller bretheren...

@xenocidic - If you do that, you don't get the console key on the new console, so your buddy can't play the games on his console unless you're logged in. It doesn't work the way you think it does.

The RROD loss is to be taken across three years, starting with FY07. Therefore, the loss included in that figure is approximately $350M, not $1.15B.

Actually, the initial shipment to Japan was around 200K units. This angered a lot of people in Europe and the US because during the ongoing shortages in those territories, anyone could just walk into a store in Den-Den and buy one. Some people even imported from Japan because they could get it cheaper and sooner.

Hey guys - "soon" apparently was a few days ago. Media Create showed Wii at about 50K shy of 3 million from July 2nd to July 8th. Whenever the new numbers hit, it will almost *certainly* have passed 3M by the next week, July 9th to July 15th.

The Enterbrain numbers for Wii in the article state that they're from early June, so they're obviously out of date a bit.

I wouldn't consider it Joystiq being biased against Nintendo. More to the point, Joystiq's *audience* is biased against Nintendo, and so Joystiq is just playing up to their (low) expectations.
