Final Fantasy XIII sweepstakes offers up merch, still no English demo

Dec 27th 2009 3:57PM (Joystiq)
For anyone who'd rather have the demo than swag, just remember that these things they're giving away go from between $20 and $170 on their online store. You could totally sell them and use the money to buy the game. Or maybe 3 copies of the game.

Users report screen issues with PSP Brite, Sony investigating

I noticed this as well. It can be pretty annoying. :\ I'll have to try out some other games to see how far the problem reaches...

Super Metroid poster, Super Mario RPG poster, Yoshi's Island poster, StarFox poster, three X-Files posters, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga pop-out display, a dreamcatcher, small wooden crossbow from France, Phantasy Star Online postcard, Sonic Advance 2 poster, a corkboard with various video game-related pins and keychains, and shelves with at least a hundred game-related plush toys (toys are art, right?).

My mom is really looking forward to it, and anything that gets my mom excited about a game is most excellent.

My Valentine would have to be Luigi. Brave enough to beat down koopas and goombas, but with a soft, sensitive side... :)

Men more likely to steal, lie about casual games

Hate to break it to you, but dogs can need their glands "expressed" as well... o_o;;

Spoiler alert: Mario Galaxy deets

Luigi wasn't exactly difficult to unlock, though. You didn't even have to finish the game first, just know what buttons to press to play as him. I got the game the day it was released and figured out how to play him before I even started my first playthrough. It wasn't exactly a secret that he was in the game.

But yeah, I'd love to hear that he's making an appearance in Galaxy. Hopefully playable, but honestly, I'll take anything rather than having him left out completely.

Note to bachelors: Sonic figures are a turn-off

Apr 2nd 2007 4:41PM (Joystiq)
As a woman who happens to enjoy video game-related collectibles, I would certainly be more drawn to a guy who has a nice shelf full of Sonic figures, especially compared to a guy who decorates his home with something like sports memorabillia. It's like teitoku said above, you just have to be looking for the right type of girl.

Customer service stories

Jan 8th 2007 10:16AM (Joystiq)
I work in customer service/tech support myself, and I've gotta say that I really appreciate companies who provide good customer service and can't stand the ones who don't (Believe me, it starts to become obvious when some companies have restrictions put on them that they can't help and when the person on the other end of the phone just doesn't care/isn't trying).

Personally, I've always been very impressed with Nintendo's customer service. Now, it seems like as a company, they do the most to try to keep their customers happy, but the customer service representatives have also always been extremely friendly and helpful. Even when my very much out-of-warranty GameCube started getting disc read errors and there wasn't much I could do other than pay to send it in for repair, the customer service rep was joking around with me and keeping me laughing as I went through the standard cleaning procedures even though I was ultimately kind of screwed.

Also, I've been a Nintendo Power subscriber for over 17 years now, and over the years, I've had a few issues get lost in the mail. Even though this was almost certainly the fault of the post office, Nintendo has replaced the missing issues every time without question.

My experiences with Comcast have been kind of so-so. Usually the hardest part is just getting through to an actual human being. I've never had to call them myself, but I've had a lot of friends who have called Sega's customer service over the years and have spoken very highly of it (especially during the Dreamcast days and with their online games).
