Apr 19th 2007 2:07AM (Joystiq)Thanks for proving my point, jackass.
Limbaugh: Don't scapegoat games for VT massacre
Apr 19th 2007 2:02AM (Joystiq)You had a point? Funny, "Blow if out your ass, neo nazi" doesn't convey that all that well. Oh, that's right, you didn't have a point, you just responded as such to not look like a total dumbass. Well, guess what? You failed.

Apr 19th 2007 1:55AM (Joystiq)A. My girlfriend is 100% Jewish, so I'm hardly a neo-Nazi. She's also a "liberal". All you (personally) have is ad hominem attacks. You do true liberals a disservice with your silly, name-calling ways.
B. It's the conservatives that love Israel right now...not the left-wing in this country. If you're going to try to claim Jews for your side, you might want to re-evaluate that position, you tool.
C. Tequila, yes, unsolicited boobies are superior, but there's something about the smell of too much perfume, baby powder and sweat that need to be appreciated up close after too many beers once in a while. I'd rather not have a politician take that away from me based on some dubious moral perception.

Apr 19th 2007 12:44AM (Joystiq)I agree with everything you said 100%.
However, in the interest of full disclosure, conservatives with unchecked power are a danger to the game industry (and other areas as well). I'm a conservative, but not a religious conservative...there's certainly a difference.
Just yesterday, the Ohio Senate (my home state), which is still 55% Republicans, passed a bill requiring strippers to remain SIX FEET AWAY from patrons in strip clubs. The bill was sponsored by some social conservatives from Cincinnati.
My point is simple: there are crazy assholes on both sides of the aisle. Most of the people complaining about Limbaugh in this thread I'm sure have never listened to him. However, there are some "conservatives" who would not blink twice at pissing on the First Amendment rights of those in the video game industry. Too many of the political figures in this arena have been Democrats, but there are certainly Republicans who would jump on this issue if it were to get them votes. A true conservative would not - but a politician pretending to be a conservative certainly would.

Apr 19th 2007 12:27AM (Joystiq)Looks like Limbaugh struck a chord because all the crazy liberals are coming out to attack him because one of his many solid points came across.
Oh, and ZeroCorpse, you're greatly overestimating your numbers. Over half the population is liberal? Bah. Bullshit. Political winds shift and given the hatred of the current President, they've shifted in your direction, but it won't take long before they shift back. Compared to Europe, the US is at heart a conservative nation. If you really think that liberals make up over half the population today and that those 231 years ago would consider themselves "liberals" compared to "liberals" today, you're out of your fucking mind.
Major Nelson talks Guitar Hero downloads, Halo 3
Apr 12th 2007 3:43PM (Joystiq)1. I think you misunderstand what an ad hominem argument is. That's when you simply engage in name calling or personal attacks. With respect to Major Nelson, I've done neither. Perhaps some have, and true, that's not typically effective, but that's not all that's going on here.
2. I didn't expect him to say anything different than he did and nor have I indicated as such. He's a PR guy and, as such, I expect him to tow the party line, but since he's front and center and engaging in interviews, he's a great target to aim our complaints at. He can then take those complaints and disperse them. I don't understand how you think less complaining is more effective than more complaining. If he's hearing shit, it's more likely than not that Microsoft is hearing it. Red Octane needs to be made aware as well, but like I said, I'VE COMPLAINED TO ALL FUCKING THREE!
3. I simply think you're wrong that bitching to Microsoft is barking up the wrong tree. This issue is bigger than just the GH II downloads. This is about Epic wanting to release maps for free and Microsoft not allowing them to. This is about Microsoft providing Red Octane with the ability to disperse content over their server. If Microsoft knows there's a problem, by proxy so will everyone else. I agree that just calling Major Nelson a "liar" will be ineffective...but I haven't, so you point is moot. I think it's been pretty well established that the pricing is out of line with the GH II content - those songs had to be relicensed too and I've got over 70 of them for $90 WITH a plastic guitar. How the fuck do 40 some odd songs dispersed through digital means with NO guitar and NOT on a disk I can resell cost more than that? Relicensing the GH I tracks cannot possibly cost more than relicensing he GH II tracks.
4. Your line about "not buying it if you don't like it" is all well and good but it is incomplete. AGAIN, talking about this on Joystiq is insufficient, BUT I've also complained to all players. You don't think that explaining to them WHY we're not buying this shit will somehow be effective? Now you're just arguing because I called you out on your short-sighted comments. Letting them know precisely why we're not spending money on this is exactly the right thing to do. And I can do all of that and still have this conversation on Joystiq. You want to tell people to "Stop complaining and just don't buy it." Well, fuck you, I haven't bought the content and I'd like you to stop fucking telling me to stop complaining.
