Timegate wins arbitration dispute against SouthPeak

Mar 29th 2012 1:11PM (Joystiq)
Oh, look. Another SouthPeak lawsuit. Big surprise there. Nobilis anyone?

When will people realize that if you invite a wolf into your house, sooner or later he's going to eat the Shaq-Fu out of you?

So sad that there are still game developers out there desperate enough to go into business with SouthPeeak.

Virtua Fighter's Akira playable in Dead or Alive 5

This is not a big stretch. The original Dead or Alive was built on the same Sega gameboard Virtua Fighter was built on. It was one of the first arcade boards that Sega licensed for 3rd party use.

Beautiful brawling in Dead or Alive 5

@(Unverified) Don't get me wrong, I like the T&A in DOA, but as the series has progressed, the women's faces have gotten younger and younger looking. I know the characters actually are young according to their bios, but if you examine the facial characteristics, they more closely resemble the facial characteristics of children rather than teenagers.

I hope they continue to bring more "maturity" to this series.

I've been with DOA since the PS1, and it possesses my favorite fighting mechanic, but its de-evolution into pervey, peeping tom, wish fulfillment makes it almost unplayable.

Katamari Amore rolls over iPhone, iPad Sept. 29

I may be alone in this, but I wish they had given us some Katamari on the Wii back near launch.

Preview new bonuses for the old games in the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection

Sep 20th 2011 5:21PM (Joystiq)
The geek in me must point out that NICO was the prototype built for Shadow of the Colossus, and was made after ICO.

The name NICO was a word play combining ICO and Nichi, the Japanese word for the number 2.

Majesco earns slight profit in quarter thanks to Zumba Fitness

1) Its not a game, its an exercise program.

2) I wish the media (I love you Joystiq) would stop paying so much attention to its sales as gaming news. We don't list Microsoft Word sales alongside sales of Starcraft, so why do we list fitness software alongside Mario Kart and Halo?

3) Her boobs are magnificent.

Nintendo stock down 5 percent after Wii U reveal

Jun 8th 2011 12:41PM (Joystiq)
@Xplicit Not to be contrary, but the age of the tech doesn't mean anything.

If Nintendo can keep this new controller's price point near $100, and they can offer enough iPad/eReader functionality to the average tech illiterate, with features like a competent Web browser, a usable online store, a Skype substitute, streaming media (Netflix, etc.), and just maintain parity with the current HD Consoles, this thing will sell like mad.

If the 3rd parties can easily port 360 games to it--its an easy sell to gamers who want something more than the Wii, but might not be able to commit to a PS3 or XBox 360 because of the family situation, especially in families where video games are not their core entertainment--which is most current Wii users.

Namco Bandai files for 'Katamari Amore,' 'Time Trip' trademarks

I'd totally shell out cash for a Wii/Move version.

SouthPeak posts $2.1 million quarterly loss, future uncertain

Feb 22nd 2011 5:51PM (Joystiq)
SouthPeak?

Oh yeah, they're the company that doesn't pay its developers and then sues them when they can't get away with simply stealing their intellectual property. The sooner SouthPeak folds, the better. Then Noblis can get back "My Baby" and sell the shit out of it to everyone who owns a Wii and a 3DS.

Speaking scatalogically, changing diapers on the 3DS will be a whole new experience :-) Seriously, Noblis is a good company, and My Baby is the "best" of its genre. I know they look forward to the day SouthPeak stops stealing their property.

Just remember SouthPeak, what goes around comes around.
