Lost Planet demo hitting the US PSN Store today

Feb 7th 2008 8:33PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Yeah I can't connect to anyone either. I either get room is full or Connection failed. This is why I always skip multiplayer demos but PS3Fanboy said it was worth it...

Analysts debate the effect of the Madden PS3 fps debacle

Aug 19th 2007 11:14AM (Joystiq Playstation)
I'll tell you what really pissed me off yesterday more than anything - I went to the Gamestop at South Street Seaport in Manhattan only to find the PS2 version of Madden running on the PS3. Why are they doing this? I knew it was the PS2 version by graphics and when I hit the PS button on the controller I saw analog mode enabled.

The only thing that comforted me was that there was no 360 to play with, so comparisons couldn't be made. However, there was a Wii and the Wii version of Madden definitely looks better than the PS2 version running on the PS3.

Cross-platform support still up in the air for The Agency

Jul 24th 2007 6:21PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I'm personally a fan of cross platform play - as long as there is some game balancing - but it doesn't have to be obsessive. I don't think that one versus the other really matters, especially if you can use a mouse and keyboard on the PS3. I say, the more the merrier.

Hands-on Unreal Tournament III

Jul 14th 2007 4:37PM (Joystiq Playstation)
In terms of the 1080p debacle, I think it's just that developers either haven't developed with 1080p in mind (xbox ports) or didn't have a chance to enhance the games to take that into account (any other game launched up to this point). The dev boxes for the PS3 weren't finalized until late last year, which meant that anyone trying to develop couldn't lock in the hardware specs. I think it's safe to say that over time that 1080p will become standard in PS3 games and we'll see more and more of them come out as the year goes on.

The Bourne Conspiracy snipes a PS3 release [Update]

Jun 26th 2007 7:42PM (Joystiq Playstation)
No worries peter, this is a very confusing series apparently. I only know this because I noticed the advertisements for the book on the NY Subway a few weeks ago and noticed they're billing it as "Robert Ludlum's Bourne" series written by this other guy. Sounds like there's a rush to cash in if you ask me.

The PS-Network reaches 1.3 million users!

Apr 23rd 2007 11:02PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Two things:

1. If you can indeed create multiple accounts on 360, just like PSN, then Microsoft definitely will count those twice as well (why not inflate the statistics for your benefit?)

2. Seeing that most multiple account PS3s do so to take advantage of the different regions, isn't each one a unique one anyways? That's why I have two - so I can download from Japan.

Capcom brings Super Street Fighter II and more to PSN

Apr 14th 2007 12:51PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Why oh why do the 360 fanboys come here and ruin all our fun?

And scott, Sony did not neglect their network service. Obviously, they have been working on HOME for a long time and it will become the new PSN. They probably wanted to have it ready for launch but it got delayed (as all software does) so they released something to take its place in the meantime. So say whatever you want, Microsoft definitely had the jump on Sony but you can't say that Sony totally neglected their network at this point.

Atari plans to trump Sony's HOME!

Apr 7th 2007 8:50PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I'm going with Sam on this - HOME was slammed by 360 fanboys as a Second Life clone - so this is going to be Second Life on the PC...or maybe Sims Online, which was horribly worse, if that's even English.

Sega Rally Revo revelations...

Stop making race games and release a few action games for chrissakes!! Between RR7, F1, Motorstorm, Sega Rally, and GT HD all I have are race games!

EA says: Sony no longer captain of the ship

Mar 6th 2007 7:07PM (Joystiq Playstation)
EA has been bashing Sony for a while. I don't know what the heck they're thinking, especially with such poor performance from their games library recently. I'm not buying another EA game at this moment after the huge number of bugs they've had on the PSP.

As for what will rule in the years to come, I seriously doubt the 360 will have a price drop come Christmas. If the PS3 isn't going to drop, why would you? Why give up the money if you can still be cheaper than your competitor? Doesn't make much business sense to me.

With that in mind, the PS3 has a lot more to offer than the 360, hardware glitches or not. The network is free, the downloads are good, they're a freaking movie studio and music publisher - how good does it get? As for games, the ports won't feature either system and right now only benefits the 360 because their initial library is larger. However, the fact that motion sensing is on both the PS3 and the Wii makes it more likely games will be ported between those two and leave the 360 in the cold.

Also, the Wii among casual gamers will die out. It's going to happen as they get bored and the party tricks get boring. How many good single player games are there? Zelda and....Zelda. I don't see it maintaining it's lead over the long run, especially as prices for the other consoles drop.
