PS3 November delay official -- other deets revealed

Mar 15th 2006 10:31AM (Engadget)
The world's gone mad.

Just because Microsoft have released the XBox360 already doesn't mean that Sony are duty bound to tell everyone exactly what is happening and when it will happen. When a new Nokia is released, Motorola don't instantly have to release information on their next phone.

And, even now, further presumptions and rumors are already flying. How on earth can you predict that it will release with only .5 million in the US?

To my mind, Sony did the right thing by not being badgered into providing information and "solid" details until they were ready. They can judge the success of the 360 and its components and see where to go from there and include new features and upgrades as appropriate.

If they had responded to the fools who demanded information on the very day that the 360 was launched and they had pushed for an early release date then the PS3 wouldn't have the PNP Hub service, it probably wouldn't have a hard drive and it would be stuck with some crappy alternative to Blu-Ray. But, hell, you'd have been happy because they would have at least told you so, right?

Personally I think the 360 has been a resounding flop. It doesn't live up to expectations that were set by the media hype and Microsoft themselves. The Revolution looks like it will, in all honesty, be damn good. It will have a lower price tag and Nintendo rarely struggles for popular and innovative games and hardware but by their own admission it will be aimed at a different market to the 360 and the PS3. That leaves the ball firmly planted in Sony's court. If they come up with the goods they will (again) stuff Microsoft in the console wars.

There are plenty of people who are already eagerly awaiting Blu Ray and, as mentioned, the PS3 offers probably the most realistic way to get in on the act at a time when the production of the Blu Ray drives will have dropped. I also reckon that Sony have a few surprise salvos ready to launch nearer the time that will make it a far superior machine to the 360.

World Cyber Games looking for gamer input

I'd be quite keen on introducing a "no left handed players called Bob" rule; I just need someone to second my motion.
Or an anti doping law.

Field Commander: G.I. Joe Wars for adults

You can't visit posts like this without the comments turning into a DS/PSP bitch fight.

I have both and I play both. They both offer something the other doesn't.

That said, original games are always best but in some way most games are copied from old ones and besides this is "a strategic response to Nintendo's Advance Wars series" and not a copy. How could you not tell the difference? [note the sarcasm in that post, before you have a go]

Alas, I need a little more help with my photography than a tool like this. Something to stop these cursed shakes, perhaps.

This looks pretty sweet. Battlestar Galactica has long been a favorite of mine so I'll be waiting with baited breath to see if it makes the release.

17" isn't really my bag, I like portable to mean portable and not arm achingly cumbersome.
