The War of the Lions on PSN for $10 is in fact the same game, yes. However, it's the PSP version of the game. That comes with the horrid framerate issue of the PSP version, in addition to only being able to play on the 1^2^3^000 series of PSPs (No PSPgo support).
Update for WotL: *The iPhone just recently got an update that added the option to skip cut scenes. And "Minor bug fixes". This update did not address the sped up cut scene issue, however.
While I agree $18 is highway robbery for the game, it isn't the same game on PSN.
PSN has the PSOne Classic edition of the game, which is the original PS1 release.
iPad/iPhone had the War of the Lions edition of the game, which is the PSP re-make of the original with the following differences:
Shared between iPad/iPhone: *Re-written dialog to clarify the story a bit better and fix translation issues from the original. *Added FMV movies (which one is in the header to this article). *Sharper graphics compared to the original edition (Retina display supported). *Touch controls *The ability to spin and zoom the camera in precision increments, instead of the 4-point isometric view the PS1 version uses
iPhone Exclusive: *$2 cheaper then the iPad version *Fixed the Slowdown issue from the PSP version (The PSP version had a nasty framerate issue when using special attacks and during cut scenes where it would drop to ~20fps). This however was addressed by just putting a frameskip in place which now causes the special attacks and cut scenes to move FASTER then the original. *More portable then carrying an iPad everywhere.
iPad exclusive: *Fixed the Slowdown issue from the PSP version (The PSP version had a nasty framerate issue when using special attacks and during cut scenes where it would drop to ~20fps). I've heard (not seen yet) that the framerate is now normalized in the iPad version *The graphics have been given an HD overhaul *$2 more then the iPhone version
In my opinion, if you want War of the Lions and don't want to suffer through the horrid slowdown from the PSP, this is a pricey yet worthwhile purchase. I cannot however recommend it to anyone who bought the iPhone version first since there's not enough different here to really justify $18 on top of the $16 already spent.
Yea, I know just about everyone is wondering how you can find a Sim game terrifying. Well their "Natural Disasters" involved a couple things known as STD, and The Plague.
The music that would play when triggering one of these disasters combined with the image associated with The Plague haunted me for YEARS. I would just hear the music playing in my head when I tried to sleep and that reaper just staring at me....
I hate to be that guy (I really dont :D), but the Red Chocobo has made one appearance before:
The Red Chocobo originally premiered in Final Fantasy Tactics, as the final Chocobo class complete: Choco Ball, Choco Esuna and Choco Meteor. It could gain access to Choco Heal if someone with the Squire Passive skill "Monster Skill" was within 2 squares of it.
@Erasmus This was a really long time ago, but if I remember correctly he uploaded his memories/personality into the Aperature Science computer so that once he passed on, he would be able to watch over the facility to make sure everything was still running to his expectations.
This was a year or two ago, when Valve announced a casting call to voice Johnson. He just had one paragraph of description for his personality.
I like to think that as far as the bone fragments are concerned, when the undead dies it's bones quickly disintegrate unless the corpse was fresh. Being destroyed removed the magics that bind it to this world and it quickly ages into nothing.
As for Zebra hooves...well I consider myself more of a "break their legs" attacker so that it's destroyed in the process.
