Nov 24th 2011 6:19PM (Joystiq)Trocadero got shut down in the summer. So, so sad; so many good memories.
The last two arcades standing are Namco and Casino (Goodge Street).

Nov 24th 2011 10:44AM (Joystiq)London. There used to be THREE significant arcades. Sadly it's been whittled down to two.

Nov 24th 2011 10:25AM (Joystiq)Then again, 10 or so years of playing, and consistently being poor at, Saturn KOF 97, I still approach the series in a button-masher fashion. Not really sure what I'm doing; lost so much money on KOF 12.
Must say that KOF 12/13 are certainly the most pretty of games.

3DS price drops to $170 on August 12
Jul 28th 2011 5:16AM (Joystiq)The people who brought the likes of Brain Training and Classic Book Collection, the people who propelled the DS, have gravitated to other devices: their attention has been stolen by smartphones and other shiny things.
The alternative to the 3DS - smartphones - is good enough; the games are good enough, it provides a good enough experience, and the price of applications is more than attractive. "Good enough" being the key phrase (NP???/VP???). The games released on the 3DS thus far are simply too similar to games from yesterday, too expensive for families in straitened times.
Without being overly dramatic, it feels like Nintendo are in a Sega-like death spiral, circa 1994-1998; they're reacting without really thinking. Or maybe that is overly dramatic. But it does not feel like Nintendo get it: what worked yesterday isn't going to work tomorrow. I don't really see Mario 123 can bailing them out.

Jun 12th 2011 4:33PM (Joystiq)Nintendo mass announces Wii, DS game launch dates
Jun 12th 2011 4:32PM (Joystiq)Seems strange, though, that this will probably be the only game I'll buy this year - 18 months, even, if we go back to S&P Wii.
