Oh, I'm not afraid of putting up my real name, I review games for AceGamez under my real name. I just think it looks a little goofy beside names like DangerMouse and I Love Bowser. ;)
Wow, I feel retarded, for some reason I put my real name there. Whoops!
Also, this is obviously just a ploy to gain some more mainstream coverage. If Bay lowers himself (never thought I'd have to say that...) to fighting Boll, even he will have jumped the shark.
He said this event took place in 2000, so THPS1, maybe 2, were the only ones out. So, without the revert and maybe even the manual, it would be decidedly more difficult to ramp up a higher score.
I pretty much agreed with your first post, but your second one isn't quite as solid.
First of all, comparing Heavenly Sword to Bioshock is not fair, as they're two different experiences altogether. But, for the sake or argument, I suppose I can.
Bioshock scored higher than Heavenly Sword for a few reasons...
1) It's 12-15 hours long, not 6-8 hours long like Heavenly Sword. As well, there is alot more replay, as every encounter can be vastly different, and there are inherent moral choices, although I believe those to be not as fleshed out as advertised, but they are still present none-the-less.
2) It's experimenting with something that isn't done too often with Plasmids, and it pulls it off pretty well, along with the RPG-lite elements, it helps mix things up. Games that HAVE done similar things to Bioshock, haven't done it as well.
HS, on the other hand, for the most part, is quite repetitive, and games like God of War have straight-up done it better than HS did.
3) There's also the fact that the world of Rapture feels real, and so does the plight of it's inhabitants, and it really helps to pull you into the game and make you feel like a part of the story.
HS kind of shoves you into the story, with little background. It feels like you're starting on the final chapter of the game.
4)Also, despite it's short length, that fact that it's combat starts to feel repetitive near the end is a bad sign.
Now, as for why Halo 3 got better scored than HS, that's simple: It's longer than HS, can be played through many times with 4 player online co-op, and it has fantastic multi-player, forge mode is awesome, and the Replay Theatre should be included in every game from now on.
Is Halo 3 revolutionary? Not really, you could make an argument that the Theatre and Forge modes are, but really, what makes H3 so great is the amazing amount of content, coupled with fantastic production values, and a really solid gameplay foundation.
In reality, the game you should probably be comparing HS to most is Stranglehold. They're both great games while the last, but the short Singleplayer and lackluster/non-existant Multiplayer is what ultimately hold them back from being really outstanding.
Coincidently, they both averaged around 80%. Funny, huh?
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is an amazing movie.
To be honest though, wasn't the current BC in Europe garbage anyway, and even more of a crap shoot than 360 BC? To be honest, as long as it is prominently shown on the box, removing it may be a decent idea.
As it is, doesn't the current BC provide more pains for the EU consumer than help them? Who wants to play games at 1/2 FPS? This way, they just said "screw it" and went completely away from that route.
Besides, isn't EU a HUGE PS territory? They all probably own PS2s anyway, and while the upscaling is a really nice feature (especially for my 52" TV), it's probably not a deal breaker for them, because Sony knows they are loyal enough to the PS brand that they can push it.
Don't you mean Nick Cave? At least that's what I found it under. Haha, thanks Justin! BTW, loved the intro to the newest podcast, that was hilarious, haha.
