Aug 2nd 2007 9:13PM (Joystiq)
Feeding the demo hunger. Thanks Sony.

65nm 360 chips in production 'last two quarters' - 45nm on the way

Aug 1st 2007 12:28PM (Joystiq)
45mm? 18 months from 6 months ago? By the time 45mm arrives it will be too late for the 360. MS won't allow their 'precious' to survive that long anyway. They'll kill it off by 2009 and try to force another buggy console down on unaware gamers with more 'x'tras to buy.

PS3 to have DVR capabilities in 2008

Ah the PS3, the swiss army knife of gaming. Truly impressive.

EA was wrong to ride PS3 & Xbox 360, CEO says

Jul 27th 2007 12:13PM (Joystiq)
Backing PS3? Releasing inferior products on the PS3 while the inferior 360 gets better attention? EA developers must be like MS developers, clueless on the benefits of the CBE in the PS3. How much is Microsoft greasing these guys up anyway? Time for Sony to parachute in their team to set these coders straight. On the Wii, doesn't it use the GameCube SDK with enhancements? Shouldn't take any established company too long to get up to speed on the hardware. EA just needs mor imagination.

Xbox Live having some issues [Updated]

Jul 24th 2007 11:05AM (Joystiq)
live being down is only a minor point in the flawed m$ strategy. No service is up and totally reliable I know BUT when a company pushes it's crap on us like m$ you have to take a step back and reconsider their game plan. If they didn't keep talking up the benefit of paying to play because of their superior hardware / software it might be easier to over look. Second if m$ could explain what is flawed in the 360 to avoid over heating, scratching disks and the general high failure rate instead of gloating on it for 18 months and calling gamers, parents and the industry liars. Don't believe in the great white hype that is 360. m$ doesn't care about us gamers just the mighty m$.

Xbox Live having some issues [Updated]

m$ makes all this money, charges for everything little 'Xtras' and yet they still cannot get it right. Isn't the reason they charge gamers to play on line so they provide a superior service than the competition? Their laughing at us gamers man. They sell a piece of hardware that is crap, software that is buggy and an online service that is showing it's age. How long can should we put up with this?

Peter Moore gives final goodbye to Major Nelson

Jul 20th 2007 11:47AM (Joystiq)
Gee. The Dream Cast failed using m$ software with Moore at the helm. Now the 360 fails on so many levels he quickly leaves before the financial results are released to save his ass. Now he must support the PS3 and can finally own one without a guilty conscience. Hopefully EA puts a gag order on this idiot before he takes them down too.

Peter Moore resigns from Microsoft, replaced by Don Mattrick

Back to your rock moore, another m$ executive turning and running. That explains his low energy, soft spoken attitude recently.

80GB PS3 has limited backwards compatibility

Jul 9th 2007 4:35PM (Joystiq)
This is totally expected. First software emulation is used in the current 60gb and the future models. Just more of it in the future models. The current 60gb has the RSX chip built in. this is used for display purposes and the CBE emulates the rest. In the current EURO and future models the CBE will emulate it all. Quite a feet. Sony also supports more backwards compatibility titles than m$. But lets be serious, most gamers keep multiple systems hooked up anyway right? These older titles are added through software updates, just like your router, PSP, TiVo cell phone and any other modern device.

Second, the pack in Motor Storm game is one of the best driving / racing single player and online games period. Anyone bitching about 8 on screen multi player online for free with full voice char, friends etc etc? Even DIRT on live is paid for and you can't race others in real time. Hello?

And third, the xbox released only 5 years ago came with an elephant sized controller that wasn't replaced until after it's first year with the controller s.

Software emulation is here to stay on ever console, (even the Wii uses it) and most new devices like the iPhone. It just makes sense to design hardware to utilize this.

60GB PS3 sold at Target for $499.99 [UPDATE]

Jul 7th 2007 1:26PM (Joystiq Playstation)
philmcneal, the Canadian deal is true. Was in to pick up my NG:Sigma @ EB and saw the poster. I think the time is good for a price drop. I need another PS3 for my network, makes a fairly cheap linux server. Poor on memory for a server BUT the CPU is unmatched for the prices (or even double the price). Of course my main system is for gaming and folding.
