PAX 2008 hands-on: Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers

The co-op is likely the Two-Headed Giant variant of the game.

Meteos Wars to shower XBLA [update]

I actually think that it could work pretty well with the two-joystick control scheme used by Poker Smash. What you'd lose in speed without the touch screen you'd gain in precision. Those blocks were so tiny I grabbed the wrong one all the time.

This coming from the guy who can't spell "there". Well done, sir.

I have no idea why this point has become such a rallying cry amongst pretentious blog commenters these days. A score is a simple way of expressing how good a game is in a way that is comprehensible at a glance. Have you ever tried reading one of Kotaku's no-score reviews? Half the time, you come out not even understanding whether they liked the game or not!

The best part about scores, too, is that you can ignore them! Do you wish that [insert site here] didn't put scores on their games? Then just don't look at the score! The rest of the view contains exactly what you want--what they like and don't like about the game.

God forbid someone should draw a conclusion. You can still disagree with it, it's okay.

Rumor: 360 dashboard update to support game installs, 'motion sensor devices' [update]

May 14th 2008 10:18AM (Joystiq)
There is a workaround to get limited "clan support" already. Just create a dummy sliver account with the name of your clan. Have everyone in the clan send a friend request to that account. Then, when you want to see your clan members, just view the friends of that account.

Assault Heroes 2 blows up XBLA on May 14

I actually just played it online today with my brother and had no issues whatsoever, even though my connection isn't all that great. It seems they did end up fixing it; hopefully they'll get it right from the start with the sequel.

Black, Ninja Gaiden Black, & Sid Meier's Pirates! coming to Xbox Originals

I played Pirates on Gametap already, but I think I might buy it here too. I love that game.

And don't you know, that game is romantic! You seduce the daughters of colonial governors with your ballroom dancing skills.

I don't blame Microsoft's customer service for being unresponsive. Microsoft's servers are secure, so if this guy's account has been "hacked" three times, that means the guy has just been falling victim to phishing or other social engineering techniques. If you're dumb enough to inadvertently give out your password 3 times, maybe you deserve to lose the account!

Gerstmann-gate: the aftermath

Dec 7th 2007 3:51PM (Joystiq)
I honestly don't think it will change. Gamespot's scores, at least (if not the tone) have always been pretty much above reproach. Look at Ratchet and Clank Future--advertised on their site, but it got a score from Gamespot that is 1.4 points below the Metacritic average--and also far below the fanboy-inflated average user rating.

We know now that they clean up the language of reviews to placate advertisers. But the numbers, I think, are clean.

First HotSpot begins road to recovery post-Gerstmann gate

Oh, and was anyone else really sad to not hear "Too Hot" by Midnight Brown as the theme for the podcast? That's going to be the most salient reminder every week that Gamespot has gone down the toilet.
