Bethesda vs. Mojang: 'Scrolls' case going to court
Sep 27th 2011 12:00PM (Joystiq)Notch made fun of this because it's rediculous to start with. His Quake 3 match solution was a rediculous as the reason he is being sued.
You cannot trademark a common word. I don't see how Bethesda can win this in court...
Important Mark Hamill news: Wing Commander 3 now on GOG
Sep 15th 2011 11:49AM (Joystiq)His name is Chris Roberts. I believe that his fixation for WWII version of the future came from a game he was doing with his brother that looked a lot like Wing Commander (but without the story or the cutscene) named StarLancer. He was big on that vision of the future so he may have decided to screw the Wing commander fan base and do this instead. Who knows.
Important Mark Hamill news: Wing Commander 3 now on GOG
Sep 14th 2011 4:35PM (Joystiq)I actually also enjoyed Tom Wilson as Maniac. I think he was great in that role.
As others have said, the casting for the games was miles better than the movie. It's hard to imagine that the guy doing the movie was also the same person who did both Wing Commander 3 and 4.
Ah Wing Commander, It was my favorite game series back then. This is an instant buy on my case. So many memories.
Come, watch 20 minutes of Skyrim gameplay
Sep 12th 2011 1:30PM (Joystiq)Too bad because usually, the rest of their games is pretty great. Bad animmation just ruins the immersion and a bit of the experience.
Also, if I am allowed to complain for a few more seconds, the AI in this game is dumb. When he sneaks and kill the first guy at the campfire with an arrow and the other NPC, just stays there, doing nothing, with the corpse of his fellow friend lying right in front of him with an arrow in the chest, it just fells wrong.
But damn the Scenery looks amazing.
Deus Ex 'Augmented Edition' Blu-ray soundtrack issue solution in 'final stages'
Sep 7th 2011 2:51PM (Joystiq)I got the steam version and downloaded the augmentation bonus. The soundtrack was in a compressed file in .WAV format. I ended up converting them to .aac files.
The soundtrack is amazing btw. It was worth the price difference alone for the augmentated edition.
PSA: Canadian 250GB Xbox 360 bundle with 5 games now available
Aug 25th 2011 2:49PM (Joystiq)Yeah it's a bitch for sure, but the lackluster showcase of Netflix in canada is more responsible about their low number than anything else. Even to this day, Canada's netflix doesn't even come close to offer the same level of content the US has.
Wing Commander and Dungeon Keeper 2 land on GOG
Aug 25th 2011 12:00PM (Joystiq)Newell: Valve wants to convince EA to get back on Steam
Aug 18th 2011 1:28PM (Joystiq)Of course they do, but if you were to listen to the crybabies here, they would all rather these competition would fold and only steam remained.
Newell: Valve wants to convince EA to get back on Steam
Aug 18th 2011 10:22AM (Joystiq)Perfect example you gave there. THis is the kind of thing that will happen and continue to happen when Steam gets bigger and bigger. I was in the same case as you, had the original Dragon Age, but couldn't get the expansion on steam because my original game wasn't bought on steam. Cheap ass tactic if you ask me.
Newell: Valve wants to convince EA to get back on Steam
Aug 18th 2011 10:19AM (Joystiq)I believe you are right but that doesn't mean EA isn't either. Even if this is all a scheme because they are lunching their own digital distribution service, I can't blame them either. Why wouldn't they? I own most of not all of my games on Steam and love it, but on the other end, I understand what EA is trying to do. Why give money to valve for distributing their games when they could make more by doing it themselves. If there is one company that can do it, it's EA. Their current portfolio of games is big enough to get people on board.
The funny part is how people cry like babies because they don't want to buy their games on Origin. I get a big "deja vu" episode when Valve launched Half-Life 2 and it was mandatory to install Steam to even play it. Yet the end of the world didn't happen and we are still here today. Hell, people even fell in love with Steam, myself included.
I too would rather have all my games at one place but this is still getting dangerous. Valve, like any company, are there to make money. If there are no competition, then the customers will end up paying for it. It's like when everyone thought Google was God and Microsoft was the even. Now that Google has money, they are applying the same dictatorship business strategy that Microsoft was doing in the 90ies. All companies are greedy and are there to make money.
