12 Days of Joyswag: Tron: Evolution Collector's Edition, 12" vinyl, and DS game

Dec 17th 2010 8:50PM (Joystiq)
Damn. I was 7 years old at the time. One of my closest friend's brother is starring in this version and since I won't be getting any swag from him, I will hope that Joystiq will fill in and hook a brotha up. :-)

Ubisoft on becoming Kinect's 'top third-party publisher,' and on its history with 3D camera tech

@DragonRage

Nope, we apparently share the same age space! Yeah I remember all that stuff and believe it or not, I'm still trying to get hold of a Vektrex... Loved King's Quest and I hear that a new version of Battle Chess is coming out.

@Signifyingmnky

Absolutely! I hope these companies keep trying new stuff to keep games interesting. I tend to be an early adopter so it actually makes me feel like I have at least a little bit of a stake in the success of new and innovative products and to some extent the direction of the gaming industry. But if the jaded masses continue to talk louder than everybody else, we are going to get "Koticked" over and over again. :-)

Ubisoft on becoming Kinect's 'top third-party publisher,' and on its history with 3D camera tech

I think Kinect is going to provide some pretty innovative experiences as developers get more familiar with the system. It's funny how so many video game journalists (and of course fans of other systems) keep trying to compare the Kinect to the Wii. Sony's Move is so much closer to the Wii experience that that is the reason I'm not really that interested in it. I don't even see how people who haven't played with Kinect yet (or even those who have) are bashing it. I'll be getting one for damn sure and me and my family will hopefully enjoy it, even if we look completely stupid jumping and flailing around in the privacy of our own home. All you jaded gamers need to loosen up so all of us can actually have new gaming experiences. The more y'all bitch and complain about new stuff and keep buying the same crap over and over and over, the more incentive for developers to keep feeding all of us crap until nobody wants to play anymore.

Anti-fanboy disclaimer: Been playing games damn near since they came out, own every system I could get my hands on (including 360, PS3, Wii, Dreamcast, Jaguar, Intellivisions, etc.), have fake steering wheels, plastic instruments, Robbie the Robot ;-) ,love gaming in general, hate complainers...you get the point...

Review: DJ Hero

Nov 2nd 2009 1:54PM (Joystiq)
Finally picked this one up. What a smokin' game. It really is nothing like Beatmania like it has repeatedly been compared to. Beatmania looks like carpal-tunnel inducing work. This one has slammin' mixes (the Daft Punk set in particular is SICK) and the way you have to interact with the controller can really give you the feeling of doing some live mixing. I run sound for a lot of DJs and I really wish some of them would put some of this kind of effort into their live sets. :-)

NFL jerseys hit Avatar Marketplace, wallets

Oct 9th 2009 4:03PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I would encourage everyone to NOT buy this so maybe Microsoft / EA will get the point that we're not as stupid as they would like to think we are. REAL football jerseys are overpriced t-shirts and I guess since they figure people will buy 'em in the real world, why not overcharge for a digital version with NO CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS...

I wonder if the Chicago Bulls could complete the LA Lakers?
