Apple patent application reveals ad-supported OS, desktop Armageddon

Oct 22nd 2009 7:19AM (Engadget)
i would expect this sort of money grubbing from microsoft, but not Apple. If you think for a moment in-OS advertising is not going to appear in a paid version of the software than you're an idiot. It's already happening in video games, the Zune has whored itself out to ads while loading software... the OS is going to be no different. Christ, what a joke this industry is becoming.

Dish Network Media Center tuner hands-on

dish TV on media center w/o compromises:

Step 1: buy old import FTA box for $20 off Ebay
Step 2: wire your dish reciever output to the FTA input, FTA output to Media center PC
Step 3: enjoy.

this aint rocket science, I've been doing it for years. Works great with all dish content.

Time Warner Cable to axe DOCSIS 3.0 trials without tiered billing?

jeepers, this is a classic TW moment: " If you don't play nice with us you don't get to try the new toys". If there was ever a reason to bring more competition to the Rochester ( I live in Rochester ) broadband markletplace this is it. TW's incredibly greedy and juvenile response to getting caught being the onerous, overpriced ogres that they are in the marketplace makes me want to go to midtown Plaza and start selling Tshirts and hats with "FUTW" printed on them. Maybe with all the money I'd make I could actually afford their products.
