WoW on Stargate: Atlantis

Sep 24th 2006 3:16PM (WoW)
Take note that he says one of his professions is jewlcrafting (or "jewling", according to him). Since that won't be available until BC comes out, the SG:A MUST take place at some point in the near future, possibly after yet another major patch was released, raising the level cap past 70.

Warcraft Rookie: Earn Your Gold

I got an Undead Herbalist/Alchemist that's been really raking in the cash for me lately. Of course, the individual herbs can sell pretty well for some, but it isn't so on my server. Here's what I've found: individual Swiftness Potions sell easily for about 20S, and the components are very common in southern Silverpine Forest.

Breakfast Topic: Noob Encounters

I actually felt sorry for this guy; we were all newbs at some point. So, anyway:

I remember playing Alliance on some PvE server that I joined because my GF was playing on it. I had joined a guild and had taken a newbie hunter under my wing. He had been trying and trying to get some special turtle as a pet; It was really straining on him. Eventually I heard tell that he had finally gotten it. Our conversation went something like this:

Me: Hey, I heard you finally got that turtle you were chasing after.
Him: Yeah, and finally I can ride around on top of it like all the higher-levels do with their pets!
Me: ...

So, I explained to him the process of getting a mount and the difference between mounts and pets. He was so disheartened that he logged off and never logged back on on that character, and as far as I know quit WoW forever.

By the way, I've noticed that people almost always pick Alliance when they first start playing.

The Question on Everyone's Mind...

"on the other hand the draenei dance is unusually international which is interesting and cool."
-Mat

Well, the Draenei ARE technically extra-terrestrials, so it makes sense that the dance would be something much different from that of the citizens of Azeroth.

Haha, awesome. Oh, and BEHOLD!

There we have the male Draenei dance, as well as a shot of the map of Azuremist Island, the Draenei starting area. Keep in mind that the dance isn't finalized... But is still pretty weird (and funny :P ).

@ the ninja: Hooray for Moonfire! GAWD, I love that spell... I occasionally just go to low-level areas where the mobs can be killed in 1 hit from Moonfire, and take 'em all out in 20 seconds. It's fun as hell.

One thing I hate: Allies [or Horde, I play Horde] in Hillsbrad and Booty Bay. I'm a bit higher level now so I can handle them, but around level 19 it was hell for me. They were all at least 10 levels above me, almost all were mounted, all had expensive looking weapons and armor so I know they were too high level to get any honor from killing me, yet they never stopped killing me. Seriously: If you don't get any honor from it, DON'T KILL IT. It's that simple.

Fan Art Image Theft

Mar 3rd 2006 11:58AM (WoW)
Ha... It seems that the link to the Shaiya image has been broken from being clicked so many times...

I never really thought about this before, but the WoW contest-winning image does look very fake. You can tell that someone simply MSPainted the markings on. I wonder why no one recognized this before? Jeez, even I could blend the markings in better than that, and I suck at MSPaint...

Spotlight on Murlocs?

Feb 23rd 2006 3:47PM (WoW)
Ha ha, props to Burnsie. I was thinking the exact same thing and this paragraph really knocked it in:
"Several indicators from the murlocs themselves point to the possibility that the fish-men are but worshippers or underlings of perhaps several deep-sea monstrosities that currently lie sleeping, or at least waiting, in the murky fathoms – and even more disturbing, that the murlocs' emergence is an indication of their incipient awakening."
Awakening ancient deep-sea monstrisities? Murlocs worshipping them?? C-T-H-U-L-H-U.

Spotlight on Murlocs?

Feb 23rd 2006 10:35AM (WoW)
Hmm... You know, murlocs as a playable race may not be so bad. We may find out a bit more about these fishboys... I've had some idea that murlocs may be inspired by the Morlocs of HG Wells' "The Time Machine". If you look at it close enough, the similarities go beyond the similarity in name: Both are vaguely humanoid creatures attracted to dark, damp places, and both utterly despise "regular" humans. Murlocs as a playable race means a bit more backstory on them, which could blow away or confirm this... (Jeez, I'm such a nerd...)
