Team Fortress 2 beta now available

Sep 18th 2007 11:33AM (Joystiq)
The game is awesome. To name it Team Fortress is like an insult to TF2. It's so much more fun than TFC ever was. Really kick ass.

Joystiq interview: Hal Milton, lead designer, The Agency

Perfect Dark Zero had oompf? Man, I must have bought a bad copy or something, because I don't remember being all that impressed. And an MMO with that level of graphics anyway? Nice.

E-TEN Glofiish X500 and M700 get Windows Mobile 6 updates

May 17th 2007 1:39PM (Engadget Mobile)
I'm on an M700, so I have to GODDAMNIT wait for the update.

Still, I've had no issues with their software... maybe a few with the RAM (moar plx), but nothing major.

Uwe Boll responds to 9/11 'Postal' criticism, pats himself on back

Apr 11th 2007 2:12PM (Joystiq)
I thought it was funny. There, I said it.

Boohoo. Planes, building. Whoopity doo. They're dead. Maybe while we have a huge fit of patriotism over a joke (funny or otherwise), we can send another 20,000 (currently living) people to get picked off one at a time in an ongoing tragedy that we're allowing our president to carry out. YAY!

Given, I hate Uwe Boll. His shit sucks. But using an unfortunate event as a pivot to call for the stifling of jokes we don't like flies in the face of everything we're fighting for as gamers to begin with. It's all or nothing people. If games can't be legislated, then we can't go condemning jokes we don't agree with. Next thing you know it'll be taboo to make black jokes. Oh wait.

Sony prepping an 80GB PS3, almost keeping up with the Jonses

Mar 29th 2007 10:49AM (Engadget)
I don't really understand the "we have 120gb neener neener" bit, if MS decides to go that route. Mostly because my PS3 is sitting pretty at 160GB, and I didn't have to ask Mommy for permission. I just bought a nice, cheap 160GB and put it in my PS3's NON custom HDD area and BAM! Drive space out the wazoo. Superior.

All of the sudden, Sony's $500 20GB version isn't looking that ridiculous, eh $479 360? EH????@!?!?!

Unexplained PlayStation Network and Sixaxis phenomena, mostly explained

Nov 30th 2006 1:02PM (Joystiq)
I know the angry fans will try to kill me for putting this forward, but I have not once replugged any of my SIXAXIS controllers since I got the PS3, save for the few firmware updates. I've not hit any BT deadzones, I've never had the controllers lag or act funny at all. So, yeah. Just putting that out there. I mean, Jonti certainly puts the problem in the limelight for writing for one of the Big Two gaming blogs, but none of my PS3 wielding friends or myself have had the issues. Same as the failures. Wii and PS3 alike. The net has just made console launches into soapboxes and "real news sources" for people to point to as proof that their console rocks and the other sucks. I mean, just look at the people trying to get an isolated incident classed as an annoyance when I've only seen it from one writer.

I still want background downloading though. That's just basic.

Caption Contest: HMD of the future?

"As you know, the Next Generation of gaming only begins when we say it does. And today, we here at Sony, say it's time to begin the next generation of handheld entertainment with our brand-new, ultra-portable PSP2! And yes, it has RIIIIIIDGE RACER!"

-Kaz Hirai, Tokyo Game Show 2007

Sony Ericsson gets its licence [sic] to kill

Oct 13th 2006 2:26PM (Engadget Mobile)
Shit, then I go an capitalize the I in my last name. Damn this laptop keyboard! On more pressing matters though, you're right about the phone being unimpressive. And "full specs upon request" seems sort of lazy.

Sony Ericsson gets its licence [sic] to kill

Licence is an accepted (though primarily British) spelling of license. Colour [sic] me unimpressed. :D (BAM!)
