SanDisk puts Sansa View on ice

Jun 1st 2007 9:05PM (Engadget)
I figured something happened when their original March date came and went without any word. They probably realized you need some form of a touchscreen to compete now and didn't want to be made irrelevant with the iphone without the phone just around the corner.

Fortune: Nintendo is beating Microsoft and Sony

May 31st 2007 3:33PM (Joystiq)
Nov 2005 - Nintendo is going the way of Sega.

May 2006 - Who would buy something called "Wii"?

Nov 2006 - Zelda sucks, where are the rest of the games? (Rest of family starts playing Wii Sports)

May 2007 - There are still no games to play. It's just fake demand created by fake supply issues. (The sales # don't lie, they are only outselling every other home console.)

Nov 2007 - I'm tired of Nintendo milking Mario/SSB/Metroid. (Rest of family plays Wii Health, Wii Music, Brain Training, Wii casual, 3rd parties start waggling)

2010 - (Nintendo is still #1 worldwide, some companies die, rest of industry adapts) I hate games.

Regarding yesterday's Apple news

I'm sorry but any investors that sold stock on the basis of a blog post that was up for minutes before being retracted deserves to lose the money they lost.

Perrin Kaplan expects Wii shortages to 'last for some time'

Apr 12th 2007 1:23AM (Joystiq)
@14 Ogmo

Check your numbers again. It took PS2 10 months to ship their first 6 million consoles, Wii has done that in half the time.

Perrin Kaplan says shortages will continue

Apr 11th 2007 4:09PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It's popular to hammer on Nintendo for the shortages right now but the question to ask is, has ANY other home console in history shipped 6.5 million systems in its first 5 months? PS2 certainly didn't.

Dell Axim, RIP: 2002 - 2007

Now we can all buy UMPCs to fill the hole... except they are 5x the price.

DS-Xtreme bumped to 2GB, costs as much as a DS

Apr 4th 2007 9:21AM (Engadget)
I don't know why this one keeps getting coverage. R4 and M3 Simply are the best ones on the market at a fraction of the price. Not to mention that 1gb MicroSD cards are $10 shipped these days with no rebate hassle.

Sony's PlayStation 3 selling faster at release than Xbox 360?

Mar 26th 2007 12:55AM (Engadget)
That's funny.

NPDs own Feburary sales figures show a sharp dropoff in PS3 sales (more than any analyst predicted), which means the hardcore market willing to buy at $600 has already been satisfied and it'll be a hard climb from here on out until they drop the price.

Joystiq and Engadget live at Nintendo's 2007 GDC keynote

Mar 8th 2007 1:31PM (Joystiq)
It would be hilarious if he pulled out a full MMO-type Animal Crossing Wii and we end up with an epic battle vs Sony Home. But alas, that won't happen.

Wii Warm Up: The state of reviews

Mar 7th 2007 10:13AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
In an ideal world, the reviews themselves would remain but the scores would be killed. There's still too much emphasis on the score, and that includes the roundup sites like gamerankings.

The fact is, people have different tastes and no scoring system reflects that. All you can really do is read a couple reviews to get an idea of what the game is about to see if it would fit with your taste.

The DS and Wii have made this more clear than ever.
