Getting chatty in Phantasy Star Zero

So wait, we could play this and talk in English?

DS Daily: On preventing piracy

Dec 11th 2008 12:02PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Protip: You'll never prevent piracy. You'll just make it less attractive. THAT is how you sell video games.

As ever, Galactic Civ II is a prime example of this. The game sold remarkably well and has no copy protection. It sold well because Stardock offers amazing customer support, free updates (content updates mind you), and the ability to re download a game without the disc, for registered copies.

Like people said, reward the buyers not punish the steals.

As insane as this may sound... Touch the Dead. I loved that game, for reasons I can't begin to comprehend.

WoW Moviewatch: Stealth legislation that could affect Europe on Monday

Not to mention plenty of people use bit-torrents in legitimate ways, I know of many local bands that seed their open liscence music over BT. Does that mean I'll get my ip blocked for downloading and sharing open source music and projects?

Piracy is a problem, but this is like using a nuclear bomb to take out a tank.

Also, wouldn't new patches fall under this or did Blizzard get rid of the P2P client?

Square Enix countdown site opens, most likely Chrono Trigger DS

Call me crazy, but Sqaure-Enix is making the game. I mean, sure, Nintendo could not let them release but that certainly would be dumb.

Not to mention no one has said if it is a remake or not (though that is a a safe bet.)

But the point remains, Square-Enix is making the game not Nintendo so you should be bitching about Square-Enix constantly making ports. Not Nintendo.

It's a fine line, to be sure.

Ready at Dawn denies piracy as reason to leave PSP

Jun 11th 2008 11:11AM (Joystiq Playstation)
But Matt, hand held systems are always behind the current full blown consoles because of the constraints of size. It isn't like the simply shrunk a PS1/PS2 and make it into a psp, if that were the case it would use the same proprietary technology which it certainly doesn't. Testing the limits of a hand held makes perfect sense because while the PS2's limits may have been defined they PSP's have not because they are not the same system.

Your analogy is false because the comparison is that they have similar graphics therefore they are the same system, by that logic we should stop pushing the PS3 because the 360 has already been pushed so hard even though they have completely different internals.

Thank you for failing at logic.
