i'm really confused. i can't tell if the author of this article thinks people like MGS:PO or don't. the whole ask-a-blogger neck-staring sighing thing makes no sense to me.
it's garnered good reviews, 88.6% on gamerankings as i write this, so if the slant is negative, what gives?
kotaku has its own fair share of obnoxious attitude, plus annoyingly misleading headlines, etc. kotaku is the trashy supermarket tabloid of game blogs.
i think the whole article is a bit of a straw-man argument. does any visitor to a meta-review site assume that the scores are scientific and precise in any way? i would argue no, based on the comments to this post. i never got the impression that meta-review sites were trying to be anything more than what they actually are -- a good way of finding many reviews in one place, and getting a rough, ballpark idea of how a game is being received in the media. his ranting is overblown.
i'm not sure why someone is ranting about the canadian prices being "bullshit".
currently, the ps2 is selling for $129.99 US in the states. right now, it is also selling for $129.99 CANADIAN in canada. that's right, the PS2 costs less in canada than the US.
so i wouldn't be surprised if it's priced under today's exchange rate.
i used to hold my mice the 'wrong' way -- resting my palm on the desk, using my fingers to maneuver. in fact i used to prefer really tiny mice for that reason. that was until i was hit with a severe case of tendonitis that was bad enough that i was afraid i'd never have proper use of my hands again. i did recover, but now i always hold my mouse properly, and use the large muscles in my arms to move the mouse, not my wrist/fingers. it took a while to get used to, but now it's completely natural and well worth the change.
