Could Suzuki Kizashi get VW power?

Jan 21st 2011 3:46PM (Autoblog)
Wouldn't the 2.0T make a lot more sense in this application? Or is VW worried about cannibalizing their own sales?

If the point of that was to confuse me as to what was live action (top gear it would seem) and what was rendered, mission accomplished. There are some clear rendered parts but I'd be impressed if some of what I think is "live action" is in fact rendered..

Wards announces 10 best engines

I'm very surprised the Hyundai Sonata 2.4 DI didn't make the list. 198hp, decent torque and good mileage from an engine that didn't sound like a blender when I drove it is very impressive.

Not really feeling the love for the 3.6l Pentastar or the Volvo engines.

First Drive: 2011 Hyundai Equus

Sep 7th 2010 12:24AM (Autoblog)
For just a touch more than a decked out 3 series, I'd probably consider leasing one at a certain point in my life. I can definitely think of a half-dozen family friends who would do the same, given their propensity for cars like the ES350 and LS460.

Thus, Hyundai has gone for a great segment of the market- those who buy luxury cars for:
1. the dealership experience (which, if in-house and pulled off right, is unsurpassed)
2. 'Cushyness' - my highly scientific way of saying it better be plush
3. Big engine - 'nuff said
4. 'Presence' - People notice you.

While the Equus has all 4 of those, the 'Presence' is problematic- the car sure is handsome, but I wonder what the general public's reaction to someone pulling up in an Equus is going to be. I can already hear the print-journos anecdotes about Excels beginning...

Hyundai has a great car here, and it will do wonders as a halo car for the Genesis and (if ever refreshed), the Azera, but you have to wonder if not segmenting a new brand for these cars was really a great idea for the long-term.

Report: Mahindra says it has terminated U.S. dealer agreement

Oh, and the typical slang word for a soap opera/telenova in India is 'serial'.

Again, not justifying or playing etymology of where it came from, just pointing out what I've often heard used.

@Spin Cycle:

You are correct in Marathi being the primary regional language of the Mumbai/Bombay area, but Hindi would be more appropriate in any formal circumstance. With exceptions for the southern states, high-level business is conducted in Hindi or English (both languages are taught formally in required schooling).

In the South, you're most likely to conduct business in either the regional language (Telugu, Tamil, etc) or in English. It's a 'pride point' for the south to speak their own language. By contrast, day-to-day life in the North with only English would be difficult, as the common man speaks only Hindi fluently, and maybe scraps of English or a regional language.

Just my $.02 from my travels.

Palm Pixi Plus now free on AT&T

Jun 9th 2010 6:06PM (Engadget)
@brotato Touche. Forgot about that. I guess between the WiFi and upped specs internally, I'd be ok with this. Yknow, if I didn't have to sign away another two years of my soul to AT&T.

But then I remember that I could have an iPhone for not much more. It'd be a tough choice- I like the Pixi formfactor (love hardware QWERTY) but I don't know if it'd be worth turning down as strong an OS as iOS

Palm Pixi Plus now free on AT&T

Jun 9th 2010 5:56PM (Engadget)
This would be a great deal if the Pixi had WiFi. I know I barely go over a few hundred MB's of cellular data month, so I could manage with 200mb for sure. My university's campus is saturated with wifi (easier to find than cell signal on AT&T) and my home is obviously a hotspot as well.

Now if AT&T would just get the hint to lower the Pre down to a reasonable price (read: $50, ideally with free Hotspot) they might have a chance of getting some of these out the door.

Lotus to euthanize Europa this year

May 29th 2010 3:15AM (Autoblog)
I'm a big car guy, and a Lotus fan, but I never even knew this existed....but from looks alone, the Evora is a quantum leap forward. Look forward to seeing them on the road near me- getting bored with the Elises and Exiges!
