Chrysler shows off Fiat 500 Sport for North America

Sep 14th 2010 3:57PM (Autoblog)
Yeah, it's an interesting question. We know that Fiat can reach 170 hp with the 1.4 mutiair turbo with just an ECU tweak, so an Abarth with 170 hp hopefully won't be too far behind.

Ford of France releases 5 special edition Focus RS Le Mans editions

Jun 22nd 2010 9:05PM (Autoblog)
They're all gorgeous, but, yeah, the Gulf-liveried one makes me want to move to France and bid on it. Too bad they're one of a kind each.

I wish Ford USA would bring these kind of packages to our shores for the Mustang, and hotted up versions of the Fiesta and next-gen Focus. How cool would it be to go into your Ford dealer and spec out a Mustang GT or an EcoBoosted Fiesta (when it comes out, that is) in Gulf livery? Make them custom order only and make it a bit pricey if it's difficult to do, but make it available.

Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa live in the flesh

Apr 26th 2010 2:10PM (Autoblog)
Only 2 problems with it:

- I can't have one (or even hope to afford one, if it made serial production).
- Even if I could have one, the mandatory California front license would ruin the front end.

Alfa Romeo return to U.S. confirmed with big ambition, Chrysler will provide pair of CUVs

Was it red? If so, I saw the same 8C a few months ago on San Vicente near Bundy. I was so mesmerized that I damn near crashed my car.

While I'm disappointed that the Giulietta won't be here until 2014, I'm happy to not be in suspense any more about when it would be coming here. I'll be in the market for a new car soon (just have to finish my MBA and get a job first), and I was prepared to gut it out for another year or so with my 10 year old car in the hope that the Giulietta would be here soon. Now I can evaluate the market accordingly.

2011 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2010 BMW M3: Tie Game? [w/poll]

Apr 17th 2010 2:12PM (Autoblog)
True, but those are race-prepped machines with different drivers behind the wheel. I'm thinking more like C&D's Lightning Lap or a tear around Road Atlanta, Road America, Sears Point, or Laguna Seca in bone stock cars with the same driver behind the wheel of both machines trying to find the best time possible. I'm sure the Mustang will represent well, but it would be nice to get a real apples-to-apples comparison.

2011 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2010 BMW M3: Tie Game? [w/poll]

those numbers don't tell the full story for performance. Pit them against each other on a road course and tell me which one is faster, and then I'll make a choice.

By the way, you also forgot to mention that the Mustang gets far superior gas mileage than the M3. Kind of astonishing that the M3 is subject to the gas guzzler tax while the Mustang isn't.

Aston Martin to field near-stock Rapide at Nürburgring 24

This is the kind of racing I appreciate. Purpose-built machines that have zero relationship to road going cars (F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, Le Mans Prototypes, etc.) certainly have their place, but GT racing like this seems more relevant to me.

Adam Carolla picked as favorite to win Long Beach Pro/Celebrity Race

Apr 6th 2010 1:06PM (Autoblog)
Yeah, Carolla was talking about racing Keanu in the Tanner Foust CarCast interview.

Carolla said that Keanu was consistently faster than him in training, and the only way he could keep the EFF-BEE-EYE agent behind him was to be an ass and keep blocking, until Keanu got fed up and did a bit of a kamikaze dive in one of the corners that would have wrecked them both had Carolla not eased off.

The CarCast is really one of the best automotive podcasts; definitely worth a download, so long as you don't mind Carolla's brand of humor and tendency to talk endlessly while his guests have trouble getting a word in.
