I agree that the lore behind some of the BGs are now outdated and yes when you look at them, it's more about "objectives" rather than "war".
I liked the original day long battles in AV, but yes it's true. It got a bit old.

It's funny to me though how one particular open-world battle that happened all the time has been completely overlooked.

You want a straight up battle type BG? We'd still have to go back in time a bit now, but nothing would beat a 15v15 battle between Southshore and Tarren Mill.

That fight used to happen spontaneously at all hours anyway and people would rush in from all over when word got out. So just turn it into a battle to 100 kills BG and call it good.
No extra objectives like flags or burning down buildings. No changes to the area except maybe the elimination of the insta-spawn guards and you'd have a BG I'd look forward to queuing for again.

How about an MMO based in the Quake 1 universe? I like the idea of having instanced dungeons based off of the original levels.

Same here. I'd say that Wii usage in my house is split 50/50 between Wii Sports Bowling and using the Homebrew channel to stream video via MPlayer.

Warhammer looks like the only new mmo poised to take some steam out of the WoW sails.... and Blizz knows it. With the release of WH pushed back to June '08, I'm betting that we'll see the new WoW expansion drop the week before WH.
