Master Chief of course. Can you imagine how ugly the guy really is? Why do you think he always wears that helmet?

Zelda II coming to Virtual Console Monday

Jun 1st 2007 11:38AM (Joystiq)
This game introduced some RPG aspects to the franchise. It was the first to feature spells and a mana meter, it incorporated actual fighting techniques like ducking, blocking, and parrying. It let you go into towns and talk to people (who can forget Err?) If you never played through the whole game, it's well-worth it--if only to get to the final palace and face the super-size blue blobs. I wouldn't say it was the best game in the franchise, but it's still a damn good game.

NBC's first NFL HD game

I live in Charlotte and watched over Digital Cable, and I saw exactly what you described. It seemed like right before the snap, the entire screen went out of focus. But since the score ticket at the bottom also went out of focus, I definitely agree with your assumption about the video encoder having problems. I wonder if it happened because the screen was actually still for a second or two before the snap and for some reason the variable bit rate decreased due to lack of motion.

Nobody expected that the terrorists' weapon was, in fact, an Atomic Stink Bomb. While no Americans died in the attack, no one will ever look at Mexican food the same.

Friends beta now available in the Steam client

Mar 14th 2006 10:21AM (Joystiq)
Beta?! Friends was released and more importantly, working, 3+ years ago. XFire was based off of the original Friends application. For Steam to say that their Beta is underway is total bullshit. They should stand up the plate and admit that their Friends network hasn't worked in years, and that this Beta is only their attempt to revive a once working feature of Steam. I mean, wasn't the Friends network one of the biggest reasons why Steam was supposed to be worthwhile? Without it, I'd rather not have to sign in every time I want to play my games.

Quake 3 in 10240x3072

OK, so if you can't afford a big screen DLP projector or a 65" plasma screen, and just happen to have 24 LCD monitors and 12 PC's lying around, then I guess this would be something cool to do. But personally, I'm much rather play this on the DLP or Plasma screen.

The wrapping of the screens is pointless because you don't actually get to see more. And what you do see is spacially inaccurate. What would make this truly innovative would be showing what is actually on the right in the right monitor, what is behind you in a monitor behind you, etc. There was a flight-sim setup that used 7 monitors and that actually showed MORE than what you would normally see.

I'm not a hater, but I just don't think it's that impressive.
