Carmack blows minds with id Software's Rage, running on iPhone at 60fps with 'megatextured' graphics (video)

Aug 13th 2010 12:21PM (Engadget)
@BogdanGC Well the PDK compatibility was really just released 2 days ago for Sprint, and already there's starting to be a steady stream of apps hitting the market. Angry birds is supposedly coming next week, as well as a lot of big games. Any developer that writes WebOS off isn't very smart. The current hardware is ancient, but new hardware is coming for sure. Palm is now owned by the largest technology company in the world, so when they come back, they are coming back hard. A developer who doesn't realize that now is short sited, and it's gonna bite them in the ass.

Right now I'm just sitting here waiting with my Pre at 1ghz. Lasts me through the day even with pretty heavy use. Screenstate overclocking, and mode switcher to change settings based on location and battery percentage still make it an awesome phone.

Xbox 360 getting dashboard revision this November?

HP's McKinney hints that a flexible display Palm device could happen

Jul 12th 2010 3:28PM (Engadget)
@glamajamma

I agree, Palm desperately needs a new phone. Every year on July 13th I get a new phone for my bday. I was hoping to upgrade my Pre to a new Palm phone this year, but that certainly isn't happening now. If the Incredible was on Sprint I probably would have jumped to it. Evo is just a bit too large for my tastes.

Geneva 2010: Bugatti Grand Sport cutaway reveals some impressive packaging

I made a video of her all naked at the Bugatti factory in Molshiem. Truly amazing how much they can cram into such a small space. Of course with tolerances of .02 on the body alone, one can assume there is even less need for wiggle room in the engine bay.

Artificial lens implant promises to give patients 'HD vision'

Dec 3rd 2009 5:42PM (Engadget)
This isn't that new of a procedure, and I'm looking at getting it instead of Lasik because of the ability to simply take the lens out and replace it with a new one if your eyes change. With Lasik your burning down your cornea in order to reshape it correctly, and there's only so much to burn away. Check out http://www.visianinfo.com/ . Seems like most of my local Lasik centers do this as well, but I have quite a few pennies to save up myself.

Joyswag: Call of Booty: Prestige Edition

Nov 12th 2009 3:17PM (Joystiq)
I was sleeping once when I had just bought my house, and with tired eyes and a foggy mind I thought there was a man standing in my kitchen across from the bedroom. After yelling and running towards the door I finally realized it was just the black of the fridge contouring against the white of the cabinets... Freaked me the hell out, and still to this day it creeps me out every time I glance over into the kitchen and see that perfect man shaped contour in the dark.

Last Place on Earth: SSC Ultimate Aero TT headed for... India?

Sep 22nd 2009 8:44PM (Autoblog)
It probably has something to do with the fact that the Veyron was electronically limited to 254mph because that was the safest max speed that the custom ultra top speed super tires could go with out risking killing the customer (while still setting the top speed at the time). I doubt the TT has tires anywhere near as capable as the Veyron, but when your only claim to fame is having the current highest top speed then who cares about safety?

Besides, in the time it takes the SSC to reach 257mph, the Veyron can hit 254mph, come to a complete stop, and then take off again and get to well over 220mph. Sure, that's just taken from performance numbers online and real world might be slightly off, but I think it still shows how much ridiculously faster a Veyron really is. There's just no comparison......at least until it comes time to pull out the check book.
